This link does not open to the actual text but instead "libretext landing page", whereas the first two open to the text itself. Not sure if this matters or not, but is not consistent.

    1. Unit Patients

These ideas for patient scenarios are great! I would recommend writing them out as a case study type with full sentences to make it look more professional. Also, there are various typos, grammar, and punctuation errors throughout, so pay close attention to this in the final proof-reading/ editing phase before it is released.

    1. The impact of inadequate stress management for health care personnel can significantly impact health care organizations. When harmful stress is not adequately addressed, burnout can rapidly become a significant problem resulting in absenteeism, decreased productivity, decline in care quality, staff dissatisfaction, and employee turnover. Organizations must recognize the significance

Maybe try a different term... The first 3 sentences use significantly, significant, and significance. Maybe being picky here but it seems overused.

    1. James consider in relation to each position

I would also encourage students to reflect on the skill set needed for James to start in the ICU and tie this into Benner's stages- as a novice, an ICU is probably not the best place to start and students should realize this will be a difficult start to a career.

    1. and complete physical examinations, diagnose and treat common acute illness, manage chronic illnesses, order laboratory and diagnostic tests, prescribe medications and other therapies, provide health teaching and supportive counseling with an emphasis on prevention of illness and health maintenance, and refer patients to other health professionals and specialists as needed.

This is a very long sentence. Perhaps break it up with bullet points and list each one separately?

    2. They often teach in a university setting or environment to conduct research.

Something's missing here. Perhaps "they often teach in a university setting or conduct research in a laboratory setting" or something like that.

    1. read the steps for retaking the NCLEX in the following box.

delete this part and combine the first and second sentences. At the end of the paragraph write "steps for retaking the NCLEX are listed in the box below."

    2. After the Examination If your State Board of Nursing (SBON) or nursing regulatory body (NRB) participates in the “Quick Results Service,” you can receive your “unofficial” results two business days after the exam if you pay for this service. This service is available on the Pearson VUE NCLEX Candidate website. Official results are sent to you approximately six weeks after the exam.[20] If you didn’t pass the exam, you’ll receive an NCLEX Candidate Performance Report (CPR). The CPR is an individualized document that shows how a candidate performed in each of the test plan content areas. Graduates who fail the exam can use the CPR as a guide to prepare them to retake the exam.[21]

linking to all these terms throughout the paragraphs here is a much different format than the rest of the text.

      fix spacing between lines

    1. the removal of practice barriers to permit nursing practice to the full extent of their education

This sentence doesn't sound quite right. Maybe to permit nurses to practice...

    1. Specific examples of SDOH include the following: Safe housing, transportation, and neighborhoods Racism, discrimination, and violence Education, job opportunities, and income Access to nutritious foods and physical activity opportunities Polluted air and water Language and literacy skills[3

Maybe put this into a chart with the SODH on one side and examples of their impacts on the other side?

    1. ties

Remove "quantitative" from the definition of quantitative research on that card. On the PICO questions at the end, the textbook body refers to PICOS and the questions refer to PICO.

    1. Using informatics can help to reduce the occurrence of medication errors, as well as monitor patient side effects and overall health status.

How? May be helpful to give an example, such as barcode scanning to reduce med errors by ensuring right drug to dose to pt and cross references to allergies, etc?

    1. Quality of Care competencies have you already demonstrated during your nursing education? What Quality of Care competencies are you most interested in performing next? What questions do you have about ANA’s Quality of Care

Quality of care or quality of practice? It's listed as quality of practice above.

    1. and self-care.

I really like this scenario but there isn't really anything for the student to practice application with. Perhaps adding a reflection question or two before going into the 2nd part below would help. Maybe have students describe what they might ask the patient, etc? This would make it more interactive.

    1. Several levels of care

Would this be a good place to talk about levels of care such as primary, secondary, tertiary? No mention of Tertiary care (rehab/ LTC). It does a good job with primary/secondary care, though those terms are not used here. I would suggest breaking the care types down by care level to be more accurate.

    1. Using financially-sound thinking Understanding health care costs and reimbursement models Charging out supplies and equipment according to agency policy Being Productive Organizing and prioritizing

spacing should be adjusted between lines.

    1. Counseling services related to mental health and substance use

Is this accurate for private insurance? I believe there is still a significant charge for AODA treatment, especially inpatient.

    1. A mnemonic for the components of Introduction, Situation, Background, Assessment, Request/Recommendations, and Repeat back

Include that it is a communication tool.

    1. ed?

Delete bracket at the end of the definition of CUS statements on the card below. Remove DESC from the definition side of the DESC card. Remove I-PASS from the definition side of the I-PASS card. Remove STEP from the definition side of the STEP card. In the quiz below, situation is misspelled in "A tool that is useful for monitoring what is going on in a given siutuation among an individual, team, and environment."

    1. TeamSTEPPS® framework[8

Not sure this matters, but for consistency, this is the only actually embedded video so far- the others have been links that need to be clicked on.

    1. Have I discussed this call with my charge nurse?

Is this really a guideline? I have rarely done this unless I was getting a second opinion from another nurse or if the provider I was contacting was not willing to intervene in the patient situation. To me this makes it sound like you must discuss w the charge prior to calling. Perhaps state "if necessary" at the end of the question?

    1. They also intubate clients

I think this depends on where they are working and their certifications. I have never worked with an RT that intubates. They do extubate.

    1. Describe

Delete "is utilitarianism" from the definition on the utilitarianism card below.

2 & 6 of the drop and drag have commas where they shouldn't be.

I'm not sure the crossword puzzle goes with this chapter.

    1. nursing is based on values such as caring, compassion, presence, trustworthiness, diversity, acceptance, and accountability.

In reference to the image above, perhaps one of these would better show the values listed here, and perhaps with the highlighted portion captioned under the image: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSKwnW0gxaiX7xDG5Jg5gVbSLG6YcBmeg8XFA&usqp=CAU

    1. Not doing something a reasonable nurse would not have done

This double negative doesn't make sense- should it be "not doing something a reasonable nurse would have done"?

    1. actions?

double check the definition of omission on card 7. Should it say "not doing something a reasonable nurse would have done"? Card 10 includes the term in the definition description for statutory law: Written laws enacted by the legislature. "For example, the Nurse Practice Act in each state is an example of statutory law that is enacted by the state government".

    2. nurses are typically required to verify the presence of a valid, signed informed consent before the procedure is performed.

Technically the nurse is just signing that the person signing is really the person, etc. Though if the patient has questions the provider should be notified, etc.

    4. and providers notified

Not sure if this is appropriate here, but I would also include documentation of orders rec'd or "no orders rec'd" This was always my practice at the bedside to ensure there was a trail of the provider intervening or not.

These appear to have been autocorrected to CAN from CNA.

    1. Some states have statutes that impose a duty to render assistance to people in need (also referred to as a Good Samaritan Law),

This is not accurate- Good Samaritan Laws encourage assistance but do not impose a duty to do so... "To encourage persons to assist others in emergencies, Wisconsin law provides immunity from civil liability in certain circumstances under statutes informally referred to as “Good Samaritan” laws." https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/misc/lc/information_memos/2017/im_2017_03 "Typically, Good Samaritan laws provide immunity from civil damages for personal injuries, even including death, that result from ordinary negligence. They do not, for the most part, protect against allegations of gross negligence." https://www.aafp.org/fpm/2008/0400/p37.html

    2. An act of commission with the intent of harming or causing damage to another person.

are wrongs that the defendant knew (or should have known) would be caused by their actions.

    3. laws established by the legislature and formally written and enacted.

Perhaps align this better with the glossary definition- it's clearer in the glossary. "refers to laws formally written and enacted by the state or federal legislature"

    1. Systems leadership refers to a set of skills used to catalyze, enable, and support the process of systems-level change. Systems leadership is comprised of three interconnected elements:[35] The Individual: The skills of collaborative leadership to enable learning, trust-building, and empowered action among stakeholders who share a common goal The Community: The tactics of coalition building and advocacy to develop The System: An understanding of the complex systems shaping the challenge to be addressed

This section seems like it is missing detail for clarification. Kind of like it's just plunked in there but not really explained.

    1. help.

Card 5 below is missing part of the word "completion"; card 10- PCT is patient care technician (despite moving from patient to client)

quiz question #6 below- should read "the AP" in both areas of the stem.
