Despite appreciating the groundbreaking film on many levels, why did it also disappoint her?
While this film was definitely a first with such a big movie with a great Asian actors cast it still played off of the typical stereotypes of asian women in film.

In the first part of your essay, craft an argument in which you support, refute, or modify Hagedorn's analysis of the film and its characters
after reading Hagedorn's article I didn't quite get why she thought the way she did about the movie, and why she called it NO JOY NO LUCK .after finally seeing the movie I understand fully what she meant by that this movie was so sad.

I do agree with what sherman had to say about how the relationships on the show The Outs challenged the popular image of the same sex relationships. I feel like in most of hollywood whenever they cast someone to be queer or any non hetero relationship it always so glamorized. Real relationships can be ugly beautiful and sometimes messy, I thought this show did kinda of capture that. sometimes it's just about sex especially when you're dating pool is very shallow. you can wind up in very bad or good places really quickly. Sherman I thought summed up a relationship of this show to another show that mirrored this show quite well,"It's a classic Sex and the City setup: a table, an issue, a difference of opinion. In Sex and the City, the varied experience of sexually liberated."(Sherman 259)This was true for the diner scene the show kind of gives that vibe but it just might be the the setting of new york city, It's just a different way of life there. This show I also though was taking a jab at the current film industry. they show that they can take the normal plot twist that usually happens in movies or primetime shows, but they don't they take the high rode to show that life isn't always that way. I think that this show challenges the assumptions of what queer people actually are like compared to how society sees them. This show portrays and cast these people as they are people who are jsut trying to figure out life like the rest of us and who we find love in comes from all different places and people. If I take this show in it's time it's was produced in 2012. Gay marriage had just been made legal i think recently during the time of this show. So I think that this says a lot. Compared to today where I think the queer community has taken leaps and bounds since then it's a lot more naturalized at least here in california. Maybe not so much in other states. But this show showed no matter you're sexual preference Were just people having people experiences
