    1. Learning doesn’t stop once you leave the classroom. Learning doesn’t stop after graduation.  Learning doesn’t stop when you finally enter the workforce.

This idea is what I have been trying to work with and get into my head within the last year. I truly love learning about things that I am passionate about in and out of the classroom.

    1. To prevent negative emotions from sabotaging your work, focus on the writing process and not the outcome. After all, answers are not misplaced artifacts to be found but rather rewards to be earned.

This is something I want to work on next semester. Just keeping my head up and doing one thing at a time and focusing on getting through everything.

    1. There will be plenty of learning opportunities throughout your Gen Ed courses that at the time may spark some similar insights. Other times, these learning moments will pass you by,

I am using this next semester to spark my interests by taking astronomy and a nutrition class. Which I am super excited for although I've heard that astronomy is difficult but I think I am up to the task!

    1. because that is where I first realized how important the perspectives of natural scientists are to my own study of literature and culture.

Thinking about how others think about the world around us can give us new meanings to some of our unanswered questions.

    1. When I look back, I see my childhood habit of reading road signs as an omen: I would become someone committed to “reading” the world around me and making sense of what makes us human. I have had a rewarding occupational life applying the range of social science skills in many different jobs:

Think about the world around us can be the start to new ideas and how we use those ideas. Curiosity is the driving factor that not many people think about.

    1. The natural sciences allow us to answer what, how, and why questions about the world not only to make sense of it but also to learn to predict its behavior and control it.

In high school I had an amazing chemistry teacher who used her own past experiences in science and used that to teach rather than follow a curriculum to a tee and it allowed for memorable experiences in multiple aspects.

    1. These connections can be developed through the shared experience of a song, the kinship one develops with a character in a play or novel,

Even though most people don't think too much about who they look up to but most of the time the people we look up to have similar experiences to ours.

    1. Our shifting perspectives, after all, help to establish how we see ourselves and the world around us. Our perspectives — we can hold several at once — are formed through our life experiences

My own perspective of life has changed so much just in the last 6 months while being in college

    1. My plan was always to do something creative — act, write, do comedy — anything that didn’t involve math, which I was sure was too hard for me.

This is how I was as a kid. I wanted to use my creativity for the better but I had goals that were too ambitious so some of them fell out.

    1. While similar to curiosity, the origins of “wonder” lie in the experience of astonishment, of being in the presence of the miraculous: “OMG, Charlette just hand-stacked five M&Ms!

I like this explanation of wonder because it shows how wonder develops and changes over time. When we are kids and young adults you are very curious about everything but as you get older those wonders change course.

    1. What you wonder has value. It can shape your academic studies, provide guidance for your career, and — as in the above example — enhance your personal life and interests.

Wondering is something that everyone can do and it is a way that it can connect us deeper as well.

    1. In all of my classes, I challenge the simplistic views often found in the media, including social media, pertaining to complicated and controversial issues (e.g., humanitarian interventions, nuclear proliferation),

I think this is interesting to show how someone who had the experiences thinks about how the media changes the story and how the media has such an impact on the world

    1. don’t be scared to ask for academic or personal help when you need it

This is something I am trying to work on. Getting more information about the useful resources can go a long way later down the line

    1. So I channeled my energy into what really mattered to me: spending time with my friends, making pizza money, and getting ready to “actually” start college that fall.

This is what I did after graduating high school. I wanted to focus on the important parts of my life and break those high school habits I had in order to develop new levels of responsibility and finding new hobbies

    1. UA may be figuratively bigger than our town, reaching people from every corner of the world, but to have the biggest impact we must recognize those who made and continue to make Tucson its home.

U of A has had a major impact on not only bringing people together who want to get away from the cold and live in a warmer climate but also with the amazing programs offered.

    1. In high school, I was a fairly conservative child. I went to school, then went to practice, then went home. The cycle lasted all four years and when I finally got to college, I felt too free.

This is the feeling I have starting to develop where college seems more relaxed than high school but you still have to put in enough effort and the stakes seem much higher in college

    1. I realize only now, with hindsight, that in this setting we were applying Mr. G’s six-degrees technique: math majors tutoring art students, psych majors tutoring education students. To help one another we learned more effective ways of communicating by starting with connections to common everyday things

This shows how impactful a teacher can be. The teachers that don't just go over the material but those who connect with the students really bring value like no other

    1. My morning journaling is something I have come to look forward to, something I wake up excited to do (well, at least most of the time). I think this is because I know it is my fresh opportunity to make sense of my anxieties, to give myself the benefit of my own patient, listening ear.

This is something I have always wanted to try but haven't ever really dove into it because it allows for a way to plan your day out and set a daily goal rather than a longer term goal that doesn't always go to plan

    1. I learned a lot about teamwork at the Olive Garden working with other servers, bussers, hosts, cooks, and dishwashers; on the other hand, I learned to be able to work independently at the print shop where I was given various projects with minimal supervision.

I have only had 2 jobs in my working career but working at those jobs has taught be many skills from more independence to self discipline when things can get a bit rough and those skills have bled into my every day life.

    1. Why do I have to take General Education (Gen Ed) courses?

I think this question is asked because it makes the reader think about the benefits and values that gen ed classes bring to the table and the skills developed along the way

    1. A few months after my daughter started school, she discovered a strong support network at UA. Unexpectedly, an instructor reached out to meet with her individually. My daughter was worried this meant she was in trouble because her classmates had not received the same invitation.

This shows how different the support system is at U of A then it is at different schools and how it shows that the professors and support staff go above and beyond to help student.
