      minor misdemeanors can often result in jail time, or community service for a long time. in a different source, a poc child accidentally brought a small fabric scissor and was given two months of community service for it.

    3. Sadly, students of color and students with disabilities 00:00:24 are disproportionately represented in these cases. Even more unfortunate is that these students are often referred to juvenile detention centers and ultimately end up in prison.

      People of color are often discriminated against, which results in a high majority of them in prison.

      sharp objects such as knives arent allowed at school for obvious reasons, but some schools dont allow kids to have safety scissors

      kids don't believe that they need to go to school if the school doesnt have enough ways to keep them occupied. They think its a waste of time, so they often leave and do other things to occupy their time

      Long term history can show you the community's traditions and things they've upheld for a while. Recent history can show you any political issues and current relationships among factions. This is valuable info when learning about specific communities.

    2. The characteristics of those places can tell you a great deal about the people who make up the community. Their self-image, many of their attitudes, and their aspirations are often reflected in the places where they choose -- or are forced by circumstance or discrimination -- to live, work, gather, and play.

      People identify themselves based on whatever they have grown up with. Their identity is formed around whatever they have learned in their community.

    3. Every community has a physical presence of some sort

      communities are physical. geographic regions usually play a major role in this, but online communities are also communities. Their physical presence is whatever platform you are using to communicate.

    4. the word can really refer to any group sharing something in common

      community is basically any physical shared aspects people have. they give us a few examples to show us what some forms of community is.
