in the early morning
In this poem, the writer stated his love for the morning. He enjoys getting up with the help of his espresso, writing, listening to cello, and looking out the window. In the beginning, he also states that he doesn’t seem to like the rest of the day. He only seems to enjoy the morning based on the line “Why do we even bother with the rest of the day”.

Okay so clearly a storm is on the way
trees fifty, a hundred years oldout there,

Why is the poet taking pills right in the morning? Does this infer that they are older? Maybe even depressed? Lonely?
This is the best—throwing off the light covers,feet on the cold floor,and buzzing around the house on espresso—
Personally, I’m not a morning person so I can’t relate to this. However, it’s interesting to see that the poet clearly enjoys the feeling of waking up to take on the day, espresso in hand.

Personifying the night. But what does the poet mean by ‘perfumes’? The wind possibly?
Why do we bother with the rest of the day
We can infer that the poet likes the morning the best out of all times of the day. This also creates kind of a depressing mood right at the start.
