    1. number of respondents who said they would be somewhat or very uncomfortable having LGBT members of their faith communities, learning that a family member was LGBT, having their child taught by an LGBT teacher or study LGBT history in school, finding out that their doctor was LGBT, or even seeing same-sex couples holding hands all ticked upward.

No matter what, there will always be people uncomfortable around those who are part of LGBT, but that should not come as big of a shock as it does because there are people who are terrified of tiny harmless spiders, so I would imagine there will always be people who do not like the LGBT.

    2. Gerzema says the results suggest that Americans are taking advantage of an environment in which it has become more permissible to express discomfort with marginalized groups

Although there are definitely some people who attack those who identify in LGBT, it does not mean that all people who are American should have to be considered one of those who attack those who are easily offended or hurt.

    1. The trio pulled the bleeding boy onto their kayak. The rescuers applied pressure to the wound, called for help and shouted for other divers to exit the water.

Most people seem to know what to do in the case of an emergency, and without this knowledge, the boy could have died

    2. “Over 135 species live in this area,” Giles noted. “This is their natural environment.”

Sharks have been around far longer than humans and the ocean belongs more to them than it does to us, so although sharks do not usually mean to hurt people, all humans should be aware that they are in the shark's home and could get attacked whenever

    1. Caitlyn Leong, 20, said she felt that people would not believe her because she was in a relationship when she was assaulted.

Everyone has a different idea of what it means to be "assaulted", so it makes sense for someone to be scared to speak up because something that they see as assault might be seen as something not as terrible.

    2. she or her parents would have reported it to the authorities when it happened more than 30 years ago.

Although there are some people with the strength or ability to speak up about what happened to them, not everyone can, wether its because they mentally cannot handle the stress of bringing light to darkness, or because they do not have enough of a voice to say something.

    1. The authorities at all levels of government set into motion a vast response plan that included thousands of National Guard soldiers and scores of aircraft.

It's nice seeing some people taking action to help those in need and seeing that not everyone in the human race is mean.

    2. Although Gov. Henry McMaster said flooding might continue in his state, he said he expected that South Carolina had “seen the end of the hurricane and most of the storm.”

I don't think this was a good idea to say this because then if the weather continues to get worse, people could blame Gov. Henry McMaster because they might try to go back home too soon and end up stuck in an even worse situation.

    1. Local, state and federal officials are rushing to rescue people stranded in half-submerged homes across the region

It's nice seeing people actually trying to do something and save others, which shows that although there are terrible things going on in the world, not everyone is bad

    2. The center of the storm is expected to head west through South Carolina before turning north on Sunday.

Most people are probably or should be prepared for it to be elsewhere because predictions aren't always right

    1. These examples don’t exhaust the list. Nearly everyone I know seems to have a well-developed theory as to why this country is past redemption, or almost, and every theory seems almost right. There is a great deal of ruin in a nation. A great deal of malice and misadventure, too.

With everyone giving up or straining to keep their faith, it makes it a lot harder to be able to improve a country. Those people who claim to lose their faith need to have more faith because there are so many of them, that without them, the country cannot improve

    2. “I knew that my release would add to the suffering of men who were already straining to keep faith with their country.”

McCain really shows here that he always thought about others too rather than just himself or how he could leave, but he knew it would cause more suffering to others, so he would rather suffer with them, than cause them to suffer more

    1. “There’s worry that you can’t remove the plastic without removing marine life at the same time,”

They don't seem to focus much on this topic other than just stating that they know it is a concern and I'm not sure how they're planning on solving this large problem

    2. Over the next several days, the boom will be towed to a site where it will undergo two weeks of testing. If everything goes as planned, the boom will then be brought to the garbage patch

I like that they are taking their time with this to make sure it goes as planned and if anything goes wrong, they would be able to fix it and try again rather than just creating more trash in the ocean

    1. "Little thing — Merry Christmas. You couldn't say Merry Christmas," Trump said. "I'm telling you — when I started running I used to talk about it and I hate to mention it in August, but I used to talk about it. They don't say Merry Christmas anymore."

Trump seems like he was just trying to make himself sound better than he is here by bringing this up, as if he was trying to prove a point.

    2. In fact, the law remains on the books, after efforts to kill it in Congress last year failed.

Trump should have just been honest and admitted he was unable to remove the law, rather than lie and tell people it was no longer a law.

    1. And the president took heat for raising the White House flag to full staff two days after the senator’s death.

Trump could have at least raised the flag halfway after disrespecting him and his family by rudely attending the funeral.

    2. Meghan McCain said. “The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again, because America was always great.”

There will always be things wrong with any country, so there was no need to go against a slogan of the current president, although he is disrespectful.
