    1. Eventually, I set about writing my book, really to demonstrate the extent of this problem on a global scale.

Yes! I love to see it! Writing about problems like these are what needs to be said. Everybody should know that food places waste food everyday. If there were no writers there would be so many problems in this world that would not be known or said.

    2. Supermarkets didn’t even want to talk to me about how much food they were wasting.

This topic is not a normal topic that food places talk about. I think they don't talk bout wasting food, because they know how much it could help others, and they don't have the time to help others. Don't get me wrong, I don't think they are sitting there saying, "we don't care about starving people", but they aren't exactly trying to help. I think it would be a great idea to make a law or something that gives that wasted food to homeless shelters, etc.

    3. My pigs turned that food waste into delicious pork. I sold that pork to my school friends’ parents, and I made a good pocket money addition to my teenage allowance.

Reusing food and knowing how to do it is a great resource to have. Food places waste so much food everyday. It's actually pretty said because there are so many starving people in this world, and here we are just throwing away good food. Dunkin' Donuts is a great example. When I worked there we would throw away dozens of donuts that weren't sold. Such a waste.

    1. plenty of problems

Does the world have problems! Yes we do. There are many problems in this world, racism, discrimination, poverty, addiction, murderers, etc. There are too many problems to count. Should all these problems set us back? I believe that problems should only push you forward. If you aren't learning from your problems, then what are you doing? Now some may say that this world is just juggling with these problems. I think that this world has come a long way from how they used to be. 80 years ago, you couldn't admit that you were gay without getting beat up. Blacks couldn't drink from the whites water fountain. I mean come on! Now we have LGBTQ, and we have diverse communities. Sure there are many things that we have to work on, but you can't say things aren't changing, and I believe that they are changing for the better.

    2. Can economic growth get us to the Global Goals?

Economic growth will not get us to global goals. Our global goals are to save this planet from pollution, poverty, peace, etc. The more we focus on economic growth the more we take away from global growth. Why do I say this? Our goods and services that we "need" goes against pollution, against poverty, and against peace. When the economy goes up, money goes up. This doesn't help the poverty and peace problem. People are mean when it comes to money, and may do anything for money. Then factories and oil increase, which causes more pollution. Too many people hope for global growth, but don't want to make changes.

    3. Watch the news every day and the world seems to be going backwards, not forwards.

There are possible thoughts that the world is moving "backwards", but I don't believe that for a second. I can see how one may believe this, but you have to think about it this way. Technology is booming right now, and has been for a good bit. Technology and inventions plays a huge part in everything we do. Now if more and more inventions of technology continue to boom this way, everything will eventually be technology. See the older generations didn't have much technology, so they are learning and catching up with the younger generation. The younger generation has grown up around technology, which has made kids have to learn faster than the older generation. When inventions are being made, the world moves faster. If the world moves faster, you have to learn and adapt faster. See we are in a world full of great inventions, but this would be mind blowing to a world 50, 80, or 100 years ago. This world is moving forward, but many people are focused on moving this world backwards, because some people can't adapt to change.

    1. behaviors we pledge to do in order to encourage and adopt a compassionate stance

When we promise to pledge good behaviors and show compassion, do we actually mean it? Or are some circumstances different? One might say they mean what they say, but have doubts on whether they can fulfill it. One might know that they can't fulfill their pledges, and pledge anyway. Either way humans are humans and humans aren't perfect.

    2. We in this class acknowledge that we have failed to live compassionately to some degree.

Obviously everyone has lived uncompassionately at some point in their life. It in human natural to mess up. The difference between hurting someone on purpose vs hurting someone by accident. We have all done it all I would think.

    1. To act or speak violently out of spite, chauvinism, or self-interest, to impoverish, exploit or deny basic rights to anybody, and to incite hatred by denigrating others

I’m not sure about you, but I see this everyday. Many do not know how much words hurt, and may affect someone around them. We are so blinded by our selfish ways and the determination to get what we want that we do not see the ripple affect that’s caused. Inciting hatred can happen many ways. An example of this is, one of your friend are talking down on someone that they hate, and trying to convince you to hate them also. Well they have never done anything wrong to you, but you talk down on them because your friend hates them, and you only heard your friend side of the story. This is “incite hatred”.
