    1. admitted that they felt empowered by their independent income

As much as social media and self branding can hurt people, it's nice to know that for some of these women they are empowered by making these videos and earning their own incomes.

    2. Based on this assumption, a woman’s voice alone is viewed by some as having the potential to arouse male lust

This sentence makes me mad. I find it upsetting that the Turkish women can't even use their own voices just because it might arouse a man. I understand it's their culture, but that limits these women from even talking during a video and I'm wondering if that ever gets really hard for them to abide by these rules or if they're just so used to it.

    3. Consequently, all the women vloggers in this research were either already earning or hoping to earn an income in this way. They also refrained from collaborating with brands so as to preserve their authenticity.

I find it interesting that people who post on social media could be doing it for all different reasons. In this case, these women need to keep making youtube vlogs in order to gain any sort of income. Others will make youtube videos for their own pleasure or to keep up with their social image.

    4. In extolling “can-do” and “always-active-and-productive” woman role models, postfeminist discourses urge women to self-brand themselves through “mediated intimacy” which also engenders them to compete for attention on digital media platforms (Banet-Weiser et al., 2020), “offering [their] personal lives for consumption by unknown others”

I think this section was written very well and it makes me think about how as people "brand themselves" online ans the effects it has on others. It creates this "picture perfect image" for others to feel like this is how they have to look in order to be famous or in order for people to like them, or to "be cool", etc.

    5. Whenever I could get a penny, I was saving them to buy cookbooks.

I find this sentence along with this whole paragraph sad to know that this is common for people around the world. These Turkish women who are living their lives saving up for a cookbook are dedicating their time to work, which happens to be on youtube.
