Not building the technology deprives humanity of benefits or simply places AI in the hands of authoritarian powers, while building it too fast is reckless.
Looking at this line through the Utilitarian lens is really interesting. I mean, the sentence itself is exactly that. Where do you cause less harm? Thinking about my previous comments using the care lens and narrowing that focus with the Utilitarian lens, we are weighing the harm done minus the efforts to counterbalance that harm with the possible good and bad for the future. Is it possible that AI could cure more diseases than the destruction it causes to Earth? How do you even weigh these things?
