    1. A fourth state of matter, plasma, occurs naturally in the interiors of stars, and in some other high-temperature environments (both natural and man-made), such as lightning strikes, certain television screens, and specialized analytical instruments used to detect trace amounts of metals.

Very interesting. I have always been under the impression that there was only three states of matter as mentioned solid, liquid, and gas. I had no idea that there was a fourth "plasma." My question is, has this fourth state of matter always been known? I have taken a chemistry class in high school and have never heard of it.

    1. If such a hypothesis turns out to be capable of explaining a large body of experimental data, it can reach the status of a theory.

In high school I was always taught a hypothesis was just an educated guess and a theory was something that could be proven through experiments. I never knew that a theory actually started out as a hypothesis, which makes total sense when you think about it!

    2. Chemistry is sometimes referred to as “the central science” due to its interconnectedness with a vast array of other STEM disciplines (STEM stands for areas of study in the science, technology, engineering, and math fields).

I am shocked at how much chemistry is in our lives that I have never thought about. I never realized so many things are revolved around chemistry. I just had it engraved in my head that chemistry was just based on how a whole bunch of different chemicals based on my high school class 4 years ago...
