A fourth state of matter, plasma, occurs naturally in the interiors of stars, and in some other high-temperature environments (both natural and man-made), such as lightning strikes, certain television screens, and specialized analytical instruments used to detect trace amounts of metals.
Very interesting. I have always been under the impression that there was only three states of matter as mentioned solid, liquid, and gas. I had no idea that there was a fourth "plasma." My question is, has this fourth state of matter always been known? I have taken a chemistry class in high school and have never heard of it.
