    1. The notions of right and wrong, justice and injustice, have there no place

I think that this idea is a great way to play on in order to have a Dystopia. This is a great idea that can display a lot of different things that are wrong and shed light on flaws.

    2. the life of man solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short

I think he’s trying to display a dystopian of men and what it could look like if men were to experience unless it’s just wonder what they used to

    3. men have no pleasure, but on the contrary a great deal of grief

I think this is talking about how there’s a certain gender roles for men and I society, and we expect them to be the strong wind and hot emotional ones the levelheaded ones and they don’t get to experience emotions and so I feel like they deal with a lot of grief because they just let things like die off and faster instead of talking about it and dealing with the real issues ahead

    1. why it is hard for him to be happy in that civilization.

I think it’s hard for men to be happy in civilization today because there’s so much pressure put on men and men kind of grow up in a different way than women. They’re kind of told not to be emotional to always be strong and kind of like to be robots and people don’t teach men how to be human and just be themselves and it’s OK to has different emotions. Everybody has emotions.

Yes, they have a ride, but they don’t have to be self-centered, and not think of the bigger picture

    4. I am not learned enough to trace the chain of them far back enough in the history of the humanspecies

    5. If we cannot remove allsuffering, we can remove some, and we can mitigate some

I think that’s a pretty fair statement to say like if we can’t remove all the bed at least we can try to remove some of it and make sure other parts of it are as bad you know like I think that’s a fair mantra to go by

    1. adequate life provided for all living beings is something the planet can still do; it has sufficientresources, and the sun provides enough energy.

And to maintain sufficient resources we need to let nature take its natural course. If we keep putting bad things in the air and taking away the stuff that supposed to get rid of the bad stuff in the air. How are we supposed to keep this sufficient resources on earth

    2. Here no doubt one has to avoidBerlant’s “cruel optimism,” which is perhaps thinking and saying that things will get better withoutdoing the work of imagining how.

I think this is trying to say that to nothing to make things better and this is simply not true you must put in the work to get great results

    3. Anti-utopias are the anti, saying that the idea of utopia itself is wrong and bad

I don’t think I agree with anti making things better shouldn’t be wrong

    4. it’s nowhere near as bad as the ones these poor characters are suffering throug

Using our emotions against us to make us think our reality is fine but it’s not

    2. he is the object of information, never a subject in communication

This is sad and completely dehumanizing not even seeing theses prisoners as people and this is exactly how it is in the real world

    3. Each individual, in his place, is securely confined to a cell from which he is seen from the front by the supervisor;

This is like juveniles. My dad is a corrections officer at a juvenile detention center back home and this is how he says their cells look essentially

    4. The first is that of a pure community, the second that of a disciplined society

This is a good example of people feeling like they need to control everything. When in reality people need to mind their business and treat people like they are actually human this is not how you treat humans this is how you treat rats in a experiment

    5. Every day, too, the syndic goes into the street for which he is responsible; stops before each house: gets all the inhabitants to appear at the windows (those who live overlooking the courtyard will be allocated a window looking onto the street at which no one but they may show themselves); he calls each of them by name

He’s like a teacher taking roll during a fire drill lol

    6. Every day, the intendant visits the quarter in his charge, inquires whether the syndics have carried out their tasks, whether the inhabitants have anything to complain of; they “observe their actions”

I feel like this action done by the intendant is sort of like the military, in which they have someone of higher ranking watch and make sure the new soldiers are complying with how they run the military

    7. Each family will have made its own provisions; but, for bread and wine, small wooden canals are set up between the street and the interior of the houses, thus allowing each person to receive his ration without communicating with the suppliers and other residents; meat, fish and herbs will be hoisted up into the houses with pulleys and baskets

    8. irst, a strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the town and its outlying districts, a prohibition to leave the town on pain of death, the killing of all stray animals; the division of the town into distinct quarters, each governed by an intendant

In some ways this is like what we had to do for the pandemic except people weren’t killed for leaving the house and no official authority surveillanced us

    1. therih_t to appropriate the product of the labor of others

Black people need to be payed for the hard work done and the lives taken by our ancestors. its crazy to think that only one or two set of black grandparents were alive during slavery and segregation

    2. adical feminists

I think we need to move away from being feminists. Because it truly only supports white women and not all women. It was started to gain rights and respect for white women, not black women, and not any other race of women. It's an old way of thinking and we need to change our thinking to be more inclusive of everyone. That's why black women started womanism or being a womanist, nobody protects black women not even the majority of black men. The only people constantly fight for black women everyday out loud is black women themselves.

    3. Many people in the United States would not choose the term "oppression" to name injustice in our society.
