I have seen this in my own classroom with ELL's as well as struggling learners. It seems that whenever these students do not know the answers, they tend to draw in on themselves or give up instead of asking questions or inquiring.

This is very interesting, I have never thought to organize students in groups based on friendship. What about in the older grades or even younger grades, besides observation; how would you organize based off of friendship?
