    1. As a black and as a woman, I didn't think that I would really want to live in any of the eras before this, because I would inevitably be worse off. I would have spent more time struggling just to prove I was human than doing my work.

      This is something that is overlooked when casually conversing about fantasies of living in another time period. For all people, especially minorities, the present is the best time to live and even so there are so many troubles. Similarly, the future is a big risk, because there are so many issues that seem to be coming to a resolution, and those resolutions may be good or bad.

    2. The only problem that we human beings really suffer from, and this is important to us as a species, is that we tend to do the right thing when we get scared.

      Perhaps at one point this was true, but our culture has shifted to a point in which we can no longer find middle ground on issues and compromises cannot be found.

    3. A. Absolutely not. I don't mean that it's going to get worse. I just mean that we human beings are such naturally contentious creatures.

      I think, on it's current path, division in the US is only going to continue growing. I think that at this point there is no solution other than a complete revolution of our government operation. This will either occur through peaceful or violent action, but I do believe it will happen.
