Instead of reading for content or to better understand the ideas in the writing (which you will automatically do to some degree anyway), you are trying to understand how the piece of writing was put together by the author
Rather than reading to understand what the words all mean together as a text, you are reading instead to see how those words are used to construct certain sentences, and the styles in which they are used in the hopes that perhaps we’ll integrate such things into our own writing.
