Critical ignoring is the ability to choose what to ignore and where to invest one’s limited attentional capacities. Critical ignoring is more than just not paying attention – it’s about practising mindful and healthy habits in the face of information overabundance.
I am an advocate for this form of practice when it comes to misinformation and what information to take lightly or heavily invest in. With the amount of misinformation that circles around on a daily, we have to remember to disregard and not focus on false information, but instead put all our focus on accurate news that needs to be shared and addressed. This is a practice that would benefit us in many different ways.
