In this day in age, we see a lot more of this in communities. A lot of communities will also have a shared political view on how things should work. I think this goes for the whole world but especially in America.

I feel like this is true for a lot of communities. You really do adopt different traits that come along with that community, weather you know or not. It makes you feel more connected with the community.
they build the history of those communities into their own personal history; and they see the world through the lens of those shared stories.
I never really thought about this statement and how true it is. When you are part of a community, you look back at that history and share those story's with other people. Looking back gives you a lot of information on what that community has gone though and what they are now.
You will hear “community” from the mouths of politicians, officials and other people with microphones in their hands. They speak of “the community” and how important it is to listen to, consult with or hear the voice of this strange collective thing
I think this is true when it comes to politicians and officials. They say it a lot to feel like they are part of the community they are representing and trying to voice for. For me however, I think when they use it so much the meaning of community go's away.
The high school students took on the positionality of expert, teacher, and leader because the partnership was designed to allow the high school students to be language authorities
I like this because it shows that the high school students had something valuable to offer too. I think it would feel good to be treated like an expert instead of someone who just needs help.
As the woman who spat at my feet expressed strongly to me, com-munity partners are not service projects. I am still working to understand the implications of her statement and respond to it.
This part stood out to me because I agree that people shouldn't be treated like projects. I feel like working together and and respecting one another is more important.
And so, I began to realize that my American roommate must have throughout her life seen and heard different versions of this single story, as had a professor, who once told me that my novel was not "authentically African."
When I heard this, it was crazy to me that a professor would say that. I think that before you say something from a different culture or different countries, you should be aware of what you say, might be hurtful towards others. The more I watch this the more I realize why the title is so accurate to the story she is telling.
Now, this despite the fact that I lived in Nigeria. I had never been outside Nigeria. We didn't have snow, we ate mangoes, and we never talked about the weather, because there was no need to.
When I watched this, I thought about how other places are so much more different from the ones we live in. It's hard to picture what other people see and go through. Where I live, It would snow so much and weather was always a topic.

This will be very nice to keep on hand. Knowing what I should annotate will also help me think of the text more and how to word it.
our second reading should be quite different from the first. You will know what the essay is about, where it is going, and how it gets there
I never really went to read for a second time. This does make sense however and I feel like it would make understanding the text a lot better.
What’s the essay about? What do you know about the writer’s background and reputation? Where was the essay first published? Who was the intended audience for the essay? How much do you already know about the subject of the reading selection?
Being able to write these questions down somewhere and answer them throughout the reading I feel would help a lot. It lets you think more on them and look back at it.
Remember that you are not reading for content alone but also to understand a writer’s methods — to see firsthand the kinds of choices writers make while they write.
I feel like knowing this when you go into reading something does really help understand more of the book as well. It can turn boring topics that you wouldn't want to read into something more interesting.
As long as work has been submiMedthat fulfills all of the requirements of the assignment, work will receive at least a B grade
This does take off a lot of stress for the class. I am glad that if we do put in the work and turn everything in, we would most likely get a B.

These resources will be nice to look back on if I do struggle with some of the assignments. I also do like that they offer different types of ways to connect.
