    1. More specifically, theprevailing approach found in the United Statesmay not be widely accepted or used amongsocial scientists elsewhere.

We can't just use one method to solve every problems, we should make the approach suitable for the situation which we want to study.

    2. Both kinds of research usually depend uponcollecting information from selected people;often by asking them a series of questions, using a questionnaire or interview. Thesepeople are known as respondents, informants,or the subjects of the research.

We couldn't interview all the people so we just choose samples which can stand for all this others.

    3. Research has one fundamental characteristic: ituses scientific methods to produce evidenceand results. It does this by following strict rules,so that findings do not depend upon thepersonal views of the researchers.

Research uses scientific methods to make sure the outcomes are reliable, not only from someones's own opinions.

    4. with man in onedepartment and all other animals in another, since sociality is a phenomenon that runs acrossspecies differences. Some biologists argue thateconomics, sociology, political science, and theother social sciences would be more productiveif they were reorganized as branches of biology.[..] An important feature of modern socialscience is that it views man as an animalspecies, different from other animals inimportant ways to be sure,

Since the difference between species, human should be in one department but some times we do find some similarities with the other species so we could view man as a animal specie,

    5. But sucha statement, if we left it at that, would beseriously deficient because some of theinteractions among people are characterized byconflict rather than co-operation, and some ofthe things that people do weaken or damagethe system of social organization and workagainst the achievement of collective objectives.

We shouldn't be limited by the traditional social sciences and we could pay our attention to the other species' behaviors, not only human's behaviors, that will benefit us.

    6. There is not much point in arguing over what is‘social science’ and what is not

It seems like there isn't any truth of false in this subject, anyone could has his/her own opinions, and if he/she has proofs, that makes sense.

    7. theword ‘science’ and say that social science is thestudy of human behaviour by scientificmethods.

Use scientific methods to study and learn about human behavior, that's what 'Science' of Social Science means.

    8. In many universities one finds that some ofthese departments are grouped together as a‘division’ or ‘faculty’ called ‘Social Sciences’ or‘Social and Behavioural Sciences

So Social Science is a complex study which is formed by different subjects.

    1. What is society? What type of human behaviour do social sciencedisciplines study?Based on this text, what would be your answerto the question: What is Social Science

Basically, society is humans, animals even plants which live in groups, but this isn't the only definition. Society also include different kinds of behaviors and relationships in it. The traditional social sciences focus on the behaviors of humans which full of conflicts and something that can weaken or damage the system of social organization. But at the mean time we have to say co-operative is also important part of social sciences study. So upon on these, I may say that society isn't the exclusive characteristic of humans, Animals also have their own societies and we should jump out the traditional society science, we can learn a lot from the other species' societies.

    2. The focus ofthis definition is upon ‘people’, that is, humans, but we should note at the outset that ‘livingtogether in groups’ is not an exclusivecharacteristic of the species Homo sapiens. Mostanimals, and indeed plants, live in ‘groups’ insome sense. Sumac bushes are not distributedrandomly over the countryside; they clumptogether in particular locations.

Human is not the only specie that has social relationships and social connections.

    3. The traditional social sciences focus theirattention upon the behaviour of the speciesHomo sapiens, examining how people interactwith one another and how they organisethemselves for co-operative activities.

Traditional social science is all about human behaviors, what about nowadays? Have the sociologists started studying the animals such as ants to figure out how can they be co-operative without conflict. Maybe we can learn a lot from the animals. Just as the Chinese saying goes'don't feel shame on learning from the one who is weaker than you'.
