    1. What does a large neolithic settlement look like in a high-mana world? What spells are most likely to be invented first? How many people actually know one or more spells? What's obviously different? What's subtly different?

First Spell starter thread and topic

    1. One thing I'd like to point out about THAUMATOLOGY as written: This is the academic study of magical theory and the “physics” of mana. Anyone may learn this skill, but it is easier for a mage; add Magery to IQ when learning this skill, just as for spells. The main use for this skill is magical research... Note that this implies a culture that has undertaken a study of principles and is in the process of turning those principles into a science. This does seem to be Tech level oriented in the sense of science needing literacy, for things to have occurred on a regular basis in order to study it in the first place. That it is REQUIRED for spell research introduces a paradox.

Paradox of magical principles within GURPS rules

    2. My take away from the foregoing is that it is RAW impossible, and House-Rules implausible that anyone in a neolithic setting would ever invent the first magic spell in the standard GURPS system.

    1. Something strange occurred as I was writing Sixty Years In: I began to notice that reading the rules was part of playing the game.

Explains why you can enjoy character creation in TTRPGs when the written rules also entertain.

    1. 1) Define the ProblemReal simple: what is the problem you're trying to solve? And yes, it is a problem. If you think it's not, find the problem.2) Pinpoint the TensionThis is where we start finding those weird links. Look for the elements that don't fit together, that seem opposed. Find two contrasting elements and isolate them.3) List the AssociationsThis is a brain dump. List the words and ideas that are related to these two contrasting elements. Nothing is wrong, let rip whatever springs to mind.4) Connect the DotsFrom the two lists you just generated, connect an item from one list to an item in the other.

    1. his advice that it really didn’t matter how many people you let in front of you. Just keep a large buffer in front of you at all times so you can go a steady speed.

    1. “We’ve never felt more betrayed and excited at the same time,” admitted YouTubers 8 Bits and a Byte when I told them Raspberry Pi 4 would be out in June, going against rumours of the release happening at some point in 2020. Fortunately, everything worked in our favour, and we were able to get our new product out ahead of schedule.

    1. I have some questions. Where does the money come from to buy firearms for these teachers? Where does the money come from to buy ammunition for these teachers? Where does the money come from to train these teachers? How much training is required? Who is doing the training? How are the trainers compensated for their time doing the training? Given most taxpayers won’t give money to cover basic school supplies[1], what makes you think they’ll be willing to give money for firearms?

      Top questions.
