    1. failure for learning

      Not just in the classroom - in life. Failure is part of human life, relationships, and work, and it's important we help students understand and accept that as Sharpe states.

    2. The questions for the DP are part of the structured practice. The more open-ended scenario of the ECA provides the space for students to demonstrate competency concerning key learning objectives (identify, apply, and practice).

      I find this model helpful. It makes me think of how a rocket is launched. Every part works toward getting the main capsules into space, and that main capsule is given more freedom or has less structure as it gains more altitude.

      It was odd and a little frustrating that I had to open the non-Hypothesis article in order to see the example tables.

    3. It is difficult for students to learn if they are anxious about or fearful of assignments.

      I can speak to this from personal experience as a student and an instructor in a hybrid format.

    4. Inadvertently, faculty may also reinforce student fears about all forms of assessment by what we do and do not say concerning our assessments.

      Funnily enough, this is how I feel about DIGPins, more due to a personal feeling of being inadequate and overwhelmed than anything the facilitators of this experience are doing.
