Thus, when designers of social media systems make decisions about how data will be saved and what constraints will be put on the data, they are making decisions about who will get a better experience. Based on these decisions, some people will fit naturally into the data system, while others will have to put in extra work to make themselves fit, and others will have to modify themselves or misrepresent themselves to fit into the system.

      Designers play a pivotal role in shaping the inclusivity of their platforms. I feel like I see this commonly happening in platforms such as YouTube in a sense that many people have to be who they are not, so that they can succeed or be well known in that verse.

      I am most familiar with the term, "bots," in this way. In the sneaker head community, it is common for resellers to use bots that are programmed to instantaneously buy sneakers that have just been released. These bots are used by humans to get the cheapest retail price they possibly can so that they could resell to other people for a profit.
