This is also a problem for one specific reason because if I website is running ads for monetary gain to run or pay for their servers and keep their website up, then how are they getting that if their views are constantly diminished by AI? It is very possible that sites shut down because of these problems.

And to add to that, later in the article it is talking about Wikipedia. They get their funding from donations, but less people going to their website will incur less money made to keep the website going. Where would we be without Wikipedia?

The information in this link is super interesting. Consent in spaces on the internet is really important and AI companies are stealing everyone's public work. They aren't asking permission to use that visual artist's work. Or that musician's music. Or even that one blog post from 2015 that was created to solve some obscure computer problem you had. And this is obviously problematic as no one is getting credit and the creators and not getting the things that come from that.

I have found that Wikipedia is something that I used to use in high school and through my first university degree a lot. Even if you couldn't use it as a source you could always use to create an idea of what you wanted and use it's sources as your own. AI are creating shortcuts by training its AI on this vital source of information. Wikipedia is a free website that relies on users and donations to stay afloat. Less traffic means less donation which means less donations (as the article states) which threatens Wikipedia as a whole.
