Very clever marketing stunt participating in the Commonwealth Arts Festival.

    2. The 1948British Nationality Act had created Commonwealth Citizen and British Subject asa status that extended to all in the British Empire and Commonwealth. This expan-sive category of citizenship allowed Britain to portray itself as the head of the Com-monwealth in the face of exclusionary national citizenship laws passed in Canada andAustralia.

The 1948 British Nationality Act brought mixed responses. It made certain that married British women gained independent nationality, regardless of the citizenship of their spouses for the first time, and created unity. However explained later, it was met with racism.

    3. The aim of the Festival is to stress that there is strength and unity in the Commonwealthin its diversity of thought and culture, even though differences on other matters mayexist amongst its members. The Festival will endeavour to demonstrate the underlyingunity in our search for true values in the unbalanced and changing world of today. Bybringing together artists, teachers and scholars representative of the old and newcountries of the Commonwealth, it will help to build up a mutual understanding andrespect without thought of colour, race or creed

Very interesting, as the sole purpose of The Commonwealth Arts Festival was to present a togetherness in the Commonwealth. However, there were still a lot of negative aspects of the Commonwealth that the festival didn't address. Clearly shows how this was British propaganda to show how the Commonwealth is about unity, and masks over the negative aspect of it.
