hello
A few greasy looking smearsand next to them, written in soft pencil-by a beautiful girl, I could tell, whom I would never meet-'Pardon the egg salad stains, but I'm in love.'
Makes me wonder is it really necessary for her to do so in a blank space? Is he pointing out that we have the need to annotate in general or point out every obvious things? i tend to write side notes whether to clarify, tiny summaries, and meanings so the next time i reared or point things out i can have a better understanding.
One scrawls 'Metaphor' next to a stanza of Eliot's.Another notes the presence of 'Irony'fifty times outside the paragraphs of A Modest Proposal.
I can relate because there are times that I rent used books there would be one word annotations that I can not point out what they really mean. it is like a running thought that has me rereading the same sections a couple of times the one word annotations before I get it.
If I could just get my hands on you,Kierkegaard, or Conor Cruise O'Brien, they seem to say,I would bolt the door and beat some logic into your head.
There was more of miscommunication from not understanding the concept of writing side notes.
