    1. So I came to realize once again, as I did when I needed help to go to university, that while I could dream or have a dream, I could not make it come true all by myself. So I went back to the elders who helped me more than a decade ago. I needed their support once again if I was going to be successful.

People have a lot of goals in life but there are some goals that you need help from other people to achieve them. But you are never alone. There is always someone who can help you achieve them. She had people that actually cared about what she was trying to accomplish and they did not turn their backs on her. They probably saw the potential in her dream and her purpose. You have to be willing to ask for help sometimes so you can get through obstacles. She is really someone that you can appreciate because she is making a change in her community and also the world.

    2. It’s a sad truth, but girls are often assaulted, raped and even kidnapped on their way to school. So before a girl could learn math or history, she needed to feel safe, she needed to be rested and be well-nourished.

Not a lot of people pay attention to things like that and they don't know exactly what students are going through in their lives. I really like that she focused on factors that play a role on how much attention the girls would put into their class. She really made sure that the girls would be successful in school and she wanted to really help them. She wanted to make sure that they felt safe and well-nourished before actually teaching them something that could help them build up their future. Safety can first before anything else and that's really important when it comes to making a difference in her community.

    3. I built a school just for girls so that they can be free from FGM and early marriage.

Let me start by saying that this woman is a hero. She is helping build up a future for girls so they don't have to go through the same thing that she had to. She build a whole school to help them out and help them have actual future and not have to depend on a man and stay FGM free. She is giving back to her community in a way that would better the future of the girls in her village. Helping them have something that they probably never thought about having before like education/school.

    1. For the sake of the planet we live on, for the sake of our children, for the sake of all the other organisms that share our planet with us, we are a terrestrial animal, and we depend on our land for food. At the moment, we are trashing our land to grow food that no one eats. Stop wasting food.

I agree with what he is saying when it is keeping our planet healthy in a way. We have to think about how this could affect future generations and the environment that they will be living in. I feel like we are currently trashing our world and we are not doing anything to keep it clean in general. We need to stop wasting food because it's becoming a bad habit and when we try to fix it will be too late.

    2. Go one step up, and you get to farmers, who throw away sometimes a third or even more of their harvest because of cosmetic standards. This farmer, for example, has invested 16,000 pounds in growing spinach, not one leaf of which he harvested, because there was a little bit of grass growing in amongst it. Potatoes that are cosmetically imperfect, all going for pigs. Parsnips that are too small for supermarket specifications, tomatoes in Tenerife, oranges in Florida, bananas in Ecuador, where I visited last year, all being discarded. This is one day’s waste from one banana plantation in Ecuador. All being discarded, perfectly edible, because they’re the wrong shape or size.

I feel like there are so many regulations when it comes to picking the right product to sell at places like supermarkets. I don't think it is the right thing to do because of the fact that there is a lot of good and edible product that is being wasted. Even if the product is not able to be sold at a place like a supermarket because it does not meet regulation it should be still used in other ways. For example it could be used to feed animals to help them grow and also help grow the amount to meat that is produce.

    3. Supermarkets didn’t even want to talk to me about how much food they were wasting. I’d been round the back. I’d seen bins full of food being locked and then trucked off to landfill sites, and I thought, surely there is something more sensible to do with food than waste it.

Around the world there is a lot of food being wasted and there are not a lot of changes regarding the reduction of food waste. Mostly when it comes to supermarkets and places that deal with a lot of products. We tend to only see what we buy and what we produce that we don't really see how much food we are wasting. We don’t really see the behind the scenes and know how much food/product is being wasted. It could be the little things that could determine if a product is being wasted.

    1. But that ain’t easy, because the Global Goals aren’t just ambitious, they’re also pretty complicated. Over 17 goals, there are then 169 targets and literally hundreds of indicators. Also, while some of the goals are pretty specific — end hunger — others are a lot vaguer — promote peaceful and tolerant societies.

There is a certain limit to how much we can do in society to make it better. Plus we are trying to fill in big shoes when it comes to making the world a better place. We have specific goals but what are we doing to accomplish them? Also how do we know to break the problems that we are facing into categories of which ones are more important. We also have to think about if we can actually achieve them and how long they will take.

    2. Now, the idea that the world is going to get a better place may seem a little fanciful. Watch the news every day and the world seems to be going backwards, not forwards

I feel like at the beginning and even now the world has been a place that is just filled with different types of problems. We have to think about all the different historic events that happened at the beginning and the ones that are happening now. There will always be problems but some are more relevant than others. I feel like we are stuck in between and we are not moving backwards or forward. We are aiming for something that is kinda impossible.

    3. Do you think the world is going to be a better place next year? In the next decade? Can we end hunger, achieve gender equality, halt climate change, all in the next 15 years?

I feel like we are not capable of fixing all the problems that the world has because of the fact that there will always be something that we do wrong. There is not a lot we can do at this point because the world has become such a modern place that it's honestly just filled with problems. There will always be racism, hunger, pollution, discrimination and other problems in the world. They might not be as obvious as they were in the beginning but they will always be there. I feel like we have a limit on how far and how much we can try to help to make the world a better place but there will always be problems that we cannot solve.

    1. It is also necessary in both public and private life to refrain consistently and empathically from inflicting pain. To act or speak violently out of spite, chauvinism, or self-interest, to impoverish, exploit or deny basic rights to anybody, and to incite hatred by denigrating others—even our enemies—is a denial of our common humanity.

No one deserves to be treated in a bad way mostly just because of what their opinion or beliefs are. We are entitled to our own opinion but we need to make sure that we are not hurting no one in the process. Words can hurt more than actions sometimes. Not even our worst enemy deserves to be treated in a way that makes them feel like you are taking their humanity away from them.

    2. Listening Listen attentively and intently (with intention to understand) first, and forming an opinion after you fully understand their point of view Be open-minded toward others’ ideas and understanding of their backgrounds Pay attention to your use of language (try not to be defensive) When you’re uncomfortable, speak up and tell others, so they know

We find it hard to listen to other people and that causes us to misunderstand their point of view. We have to develop our listening skills in order to understand what others are feeling. Also we can't be so quick to judge other people if we don't put any attention to what they are saying or feeling. We have to keep in mind that people are expressing what they are feeling or thinking because they have the trust in you and they don't want to feel like they are being judged.

    3. Responding Mindfully respond to others’ ideas (acknowledge someone’s ideas before presenting your own) Vocally affirm that you respect and empathize with those around you Use a calm and collected tone of writing; be careful with your word choice; avoid aggressive language, and don’t use harsh words Encourage compliments and be nice to others Aim to educate

We don't always have the right answer for every situation and that can lead to choosing the wrong words. Everyone has their own opinion and they choose how to respond in any situation. Hopefully we are surrounded with a good environment filled with positive vibes. Also to Always make sure we are respectful with our words and to not offend anyone in the process of giving our response. We have to remember that we are in a professional environment and that our opinion matters but we have to be respectful and professional with our words.
