    1. writing on the issues that his students faced every day of their lives. In other words, they learned to read using pictures (like we discussed in Fall Semester) that showed bricklayers laying bricks, and pictured other situations that the students knew from their own lived

Students will better read an image that connects to their own experiences because it is basically something they have seen before.

    2. The questions you ask should not be structured in a way that they seek one correct answer, per se, but rather perspectives or experiences of scholars that have come before you

This is important to know because what others can relate to the most it will be much more meaningful and easier to understand. We have to be open to new perspectives. Doing so, by asking these types of question will freely allows us to more flexible and understand different views that we didn't see before and be more impactful.

    3. Curiosity, Engagement:

I feel like this is very important because it will drive us to keep on learning more. Once we stop just thinking for the answers and actually begin to want to know more, to have more questions, we will be more engage and it will later on reflect how passionate we are about the topic.

    1. Design elements (basic units)

These are very important. People are more likely to remember images to help them better understand. For example, when we dream, its all images and illustrations, we think as a picture.

    2. When you are stuck, it often helps to look at examples of similar projects that other people have created for ideas.

This is so true. When we have a project to present to the class it is a good way to do a presentations with images or color too and not just word. It not only keeps the audiences attracted to the color choice or picture but it can give a basic summarization of what is being talked about.

    1. interests students do reveal are sometimesdismissed.

Why is this so? Do they feel like the students are intentionally out to prove them wrong on something?

    2. but teachers then help to clarify, amend, and reformulate those questions, sometimes combining one child’s with another’s

This is so true. They help to easier simplify several ideas into sometimes one.

    3. remind students that the teacher’s perspective isn’t the last word

Teachers are just like everyone else. We all have different views, not just because they have a different opinion then our own means we are in the wrong and they in the right.

    4. Children are trained to sit still, copy down and memorize what the teacher and textbook say

By this students aren't really learning. They just do it for the test and class grade. After that most of the information is forgotten.

    5. students are pushed to come upwith questions on the spot rather than given sufficient time to reflect

Reflection is an effective stagey for student to look back on what the learned and push them to have more questions.

    6. Progressive education is defined by active and artful adultinvolvement,

I feel like it means that teachers hold major influence and responsibility on how progressive the class is. They have to encourage students to think outside the box. Being a teacher does not mean just give them work to complete but it is way more than that simple.

    7. In more traditional classrooms, students are rarely asked what they’ve been wondering about.

These traditional classroom cause some students to only raise their hand to the right answer. Its not always directly mentioned to them that it is okay to have many questions.

    8. Talk less, askmore.

The more questions the better you will understand. It means you are viewing things in a more intellectual way than what is simply just being asked.

    9. “Knowingthe right answer is overrated,”

What justice does it make knowing the right answer all the time? You're not learning anything, when you don't know the answer to something it makes you think more. You be having questions on top of questions.

    10. teaching tends toshade into learning

When you teach, it shows you can explain the material not only for yourself to understand but for others too. Thats how you know you fully understand it. Its a both way learning.

    11. The least interesting questions are thosewith straightforward factual answers.

There is no critical thinking by these types of questions. You will learn nothing more but was is sort of already known.

    1. “Discipline” by Dead Prez (2000), for a good reminder once in a while.

The overall idea of discipline is where you have to practice and train yourself to have it. Dead Prez repetitively said "its going to be alright."He purposely mentioned this particular line because its one thing that everyone as to keep in mind. It does not matter where you are in life, or how bad of a situation you're in, remember that line. Don't feel like its the end of the world, nothing in life is set to last that way just keep your head up.

    2. To earn an A, which shows evidence of self-directed learning, motivation to improve and grow, and a substantial amount of extra academic labor and revisions,

Not only do you have to be consistent but if you really want to get an A know that you have to do more than the expected.

    3. Essentially, your course grade will be determined by the amount of labor you put into this class, your self-discipline, goals

This will motivate us to engage more with the class, and to constantly be setting new goals to achieve individually.

    4. Working together in bi-weekly Reading Groups

I feel like this strategy is a great way to better understand, and share new ideas. It will help us become more open minded.
