    1. WordPress themes offer an opportunity to reformat the same content, to experiment with different modes of telling a story, mapping out its evidence, developing its historiographical and interpretative context, convincingly expressing a multimodal argument that uses not just text but also sound, imagery, and the multidimensional rhythms and flows of an Internet interface.

      Wordpress offers an opportunity to express the importance of history such as narration providing different versions of telling stories and interpretations. This is significant because history is filled with different perception, experience and contradictions. Thus, by including all of this information we are able to think critically and incorporate all the aspects within a historical context.

    2. In the course, as we complete readings, watch documentary films, listen to audio mixes, and discuss our studies in a good, old-fashioned face-to-face seminar, my students also complete weekly mini-blog assignments, each using a different tool

      This is similar to what we plan to do within out course. I think it's important to utilize all of these sources and combine them into one sole WordPress. this would allow people to learn more and address a vast amount of topics that wouldn't flow as easily in a paper.

      I think this is very interesting to incorporate other workshops and performances in addition to the music provided at a festival. And wonder if people have a better experience at a festival with all of these added benefits.

    1. Perhaps most important to the humanities, a field that encourages critical thinking, there was discomfort identifying individual research interests when presented with academic freedom.

      I really like the idea of independent work and producing our own research and contributions, despite it being a collective project. I think we often rely on being instructed under "traditional" schools which stifles us from attaining critical thinking skills. Freedom is discomforting, but significant to our own development.

    2. The SPP, a feminist digital archive, looks back at the early 1900s in the context of the women’s suffrage movement, a movement that gained momentum in the same historical moment of the Golden Age of postcards and produced hundreds of pro- and anti-suffrage images.

      I think this is significant in looking at the integration of media and politics. Even so long ago people have used media to portray their political stances and it has only grown in our era. Also, I'm currently taking an American Woman History course and we were just shown postcards and currently addressing the topic of woman's suffrage. It's definitely exciting to see an overlap in my courses and this showcases the importance of looking at this digital project.

    1. Yet the digitized revolution is not inherently egalitarian, open, or cost-free

      This is another indication of how the "free web"isn't always free and that education is a privilege. Since we are college students, we have access to a lot of "free" research, but it's included in our tuition cost. Thus, it's not really free, we do indirectly pay for it. As opposed to other people, who do not have the same access, which they should. I never understood hoarding information. Isn't the purpose to spread it? Or was it researched simply for monetary value?

    2. Together, side-glancing and borderlessterm-searching radically change the questions we are likely to ask and the stories weare able to tell

      I don't think making topics more accessible or "effortless" doesn't mean it's not important. I don't like the idea that learning or education always has to be difficult in order to learn something. I think making certain things easier like having a vast database of research allows us to focus on questions and topics as opposed to spending majority of our time looking for sources. Instead we can utilize our sources to make arguments or portray certain narratives that will allow us to learn more and portray important topics.

    1. ] Other efforts to increase capacity can be found through free professional development opportunities offered through the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Getty Foundation, and professional organizations, as well as fee-based courses at the Digital Humanities Summer Institute and many universities

      Although there are some free material, I think one of the significant challenges can be the cost. How do you create something that represents marginalized groups, yet render them invisible by not giving them access. Not everyone can afford fees and we should use funding to ensure they are free access.

    2. Perhaps most important, digital methods help us to access and share marginalized or silenced voices and to incorporate them into our work in ways not possible in print or the space of an exhibition gallery.

      THIS is so important, especially since marginalized groups such as immigrants or ethnic groups are often negated from historical records. However, there is documented proof, but it's often not gathered or shared with other researchers or historians. By putting records on a database, it will allow research to reflect reality as opposed to assumptions. Also, this serves as proof that other groups were present and we can utilize this to research their importance in areas.

    1. Digital literacy means having a familiarity with and facility in navigating and using the Internet

      Another important aspect is having access to internet, which many people do not. As our world gravitates towards technology, it should be accessible to all and not simply a privilege. Also, I think it should be free or paid for by the government (through our taxes). Also, it can easily reach anyone and use a lot of less paper which is beneficial to our environment.

    1. I was writing for a grade — I was no longer exploring for me.  I

      I have enjoyed writing and reading for practically my entire life; however, it has become difficult as I have grown older. It's not for my lack of interest, but I am so preoccupied during the school year that I have no time for "leisure" reading. And when we have small breaks, I take the time to wind down, which doesn't involve using my brain so much. Thus, I can only write and read for myself on summer break, when prior I was doing this on daily basis. Additionally, I dislike the association of intelligence with grades, they are not always consistent or reflective. I like how new educators are gradually introducing a no grading system, especially to younger children. Taking aways unnecessary pleasure will allow more people to view school in a positive light.
