    1. When a previously bad writer seesimprovement, sees the value of persistence, and feels the satisfac-tion of the metacognitive recognition that they have gotten better, they will know that good writers are not born but come to fruitionin the social act of writing itself.

This reignites with me a lot. When i see growth in myself i tend to think more positive. It makes me feel good when i see my growth and then when others see it as well. From writing to doing small task to keep up with my daily life. I dont think that one person is born with a skill set that another person cant do them selves. Unless theres a medical reasoning wht they can not perform the same act. I can write a book just as good as Stephen King- ONLY if I worked hard at it. building the skills that he has. Yes, some people might be able to do things easier than me. However, I possess my own set of skills that come easier to me than others as well.

    2. a process calledmetacognition.

This is the first time ive heard this word. I had to go look more into it and now i have learned that metacognition is the awareness and understanding of your own thought process. One would figure they know their own thought process however- Have you really ever thought about the way you think and process information? I didnt until reading this article.

    3. ifferential between inexperiencedwriters and professional authors perpetuates the idea of learnersas helpless children.

Even professors will look at students like they're dumb even knowing they are still learning. Getting frustrated with how someone writes when you're trying to teach them is wild to me. I can write poems and little notes very well however writing stories or trying to write a paper for a class is not my strong suit. We know what they are thinking about us even when its not said. It discourages students from even trying

    4. Many people are experts at thoseactivities but then lack the experience and facility to recognize therhetorical requirements of other contexts or genres

I use to use short cuts when texting or writing something on social media. We do write all the time however I also lacked the knowledge to write a proper professional email without sounding like someone talking to their friends. Writing and basic communication skills are a must.

    1. I decided to pick up thebook myself and struggle my way through.

This reminds me of the first book series I read. Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shane (The Vampire Assistant books). There were 13 books in the series, and I just couldn't put them down. Then twilight like everyone else and the harry potter books, The wheel of time series was amazing as well. I get so lost in them. Some I can't read at night because I won't sleep.

    2. [I] read books at recess, then during lunch, and in the minutes left after I had finished my classroom assignments”

I like how Pasqualin describes things people can relate to. I did this almost every day in elementary, jr high and the two years of high school that I could stand to suffer though.

    1. Failing the second time made things worse, so perhaps to protect myselffrom my doubts, I stopped taking English seriously.

Sometimes we overthink things or get in our heads. Even being overly confident can cause chaos where chaos doesn't need to be. Taking a step back and just saying whatever let's wing this thing works out better.

    2. "Writing! Yeah right! How did I manageto fail writing, and by half a point, no less?"

When taking my GED test 2 years ago, I remember telling my husband how good of a writer I was. "I got this!! i took a creative writing class in high school". Yeah nope failed it and math. Science and history passed no problems. Go figure!!!

    1. Despite all the books I read, I am still surprised I became a writer. I was going to be a pediatrician

This made me remember how quickly things change. I was going to do Administration for a career and quickly realized that Social work was where I really wanted to be.

    2. A smart Indian is a dangerous person, widely feared and ridiculed by Indians and non-Indians alike.

This made me think a little more about how we underestimate people. If you have knowledge then you have power. You do not have to fight to be strong and powerful.

    1. “Entertainment is a requirement for successful storytelling

I agree with this. If someone is reading outload and they are monotoned, they have a blank face and no pep to keep attention, nope sleep time! You have to keep someone's attention. If you want to know if you are a good storyteller, volunteer to do a story reading day at a Pree school or the library but ask for kids under the age of 6. That is the real test. My daughter can keep kids' attention all day. I can for a little bit. My husband stands no chance! so yes being entertaining while you're telling a story is a MUST!!!

    2. However, a story is more than just a string of events.

A story can have several different reasons on why it was made. Some help people learn things from educational and some as cultural knowledge. Some stories can tell someone's personal history like a memoir. I used to tell stories to help my kids understand things (made up stories), potty training, friends, school time things like this. My grandfather would tell me stories about the factories. I would tell stories to friends about where i have been growing up. I've learned a lot of fun facts- Like taking a quarter to help push a thumb tack into a wall. that came from a contractor who walked into my CPR class as I was struggling with a thumb tack. My go to hack. There are so many reason for stories.

    3. Our brains seem wired for narrative,

This in itself clicked. As we read in our heads or randomly find ourselves talking to ourselves. Have you ever caught yourself narrating things around you just because you are bored? NO?!? Just me?
