Sinners who consider suicide when lonely at night are encouraged to “fight it. Take the pain, ignite it. Tie a noose around your mind loose enough to breathe fine. This quote resonates with me because it reminds me with a discussion I had with my mother. I said I was worried about climate change and expressed concerns that humans aren't doing enough to work against it. My mother responded by saying "It took me a while to realize that the world is going to come to an end whether we like it or not. It could be in twenty years, it could be in twenty thousand, but it's going to happen eventually. And it took me awhile, but I know I must accept this fact."

This is the perfect quote to sum up the idea of this paragraph. No human could ever expect water to just not kill them if they tried to live like a fish. Taoism, aka adjusting to this constraint and accepting that you don't have gills, wins here (in my opinion).

It's quite interesting how much of someone's political affiliation is tied to their personal definitions and understanding of the concept of freedom. Everything from who should be free to live in the USA to who should be free to own guns, etc

Being American is to be free
I disagree with this statement, in that I think there is a disconnection between the "ideal America" and the reality of our society. I think many people have a patriotic idea in their heads that the United States is FREE and YEAH and WOO. I'm referring to the kinds of people who have huge barbecues on the Fourth of July and have American flags all over the place but turn a blind eye to the prevalent racism, sexism, and inequality here and do nothing about it.
