      Being married to Sykes took the life out of her, so in the end she let his life go though she had no part in this because Sykes brought that a upon his self because he thought he was so called 'getting rid' of his problem which was his wife.

      At this point she just left it to God, she let God handle Sykes for all the misery and pain she endured for all those years of being married to him.

      It was petty and mean of Sykes to do that to Delia because he brought a snake into the house that she sweats in to keep a roof over his head he tries to run her out or kill her out of her own home. He should have just left Delia and went off with his mistress instead of continuing to publicly humiliating Delia in front of the church and the townspeople.

      The snake is a beautiful a creator in nature yes but the horror it brings to most humans, and what this creator can do to people is an awful sight to see especially if you have a very big fear of snakes like Delia does.

He also did that to the clothes he wanted to cause more work for Delia and start an argument with her just to start one because he is a bully to his wife.

    1. Aaron is dead. By the time Claire is awake enough to be aware of this, it has already been determined that he was not a stranger,

      Oh wow...this part definitely surprised me. What makes this even worse is that she didn't see what happened at first than knew what was going on after what happened.
