    1. This ugly work is now well under way, with the Trump administration, enabled by the supreme court, having invoked the Alien Enemies Act to deport hundreds of Venezuelan immigrants to Cecot, the now infamous mega-prison in El Salvador. The facility, which shaves prisoners heads and packs up to 100 people into a single cell, stacked with bare bunks, operates under the civil liberties-destroying “state of exception” first declared over three years ago by the country’s crypto-loving, Christian Zionist prime minister, Nayib Bukele.

That mega-prison that was made originally to solve the gang problem El Salvador was facing. they had actually rounded up over 30,000 suspected gang members. But now, people who, granted broke the law, wanting to just live the "American dream", being sent there in comparison to the other prisoners is really sad.

    2. Noem and Russell Vought, the Project 2025 architect who now leads the office of budget and management, are both staunch advocates for Christian nationalism.

Knowing what project 2025 is and seeing that two people who built and are involved with it, now having government positions is just wild to me. Does it not raise red flags?

    3. The governing ideology of the far right in our age of escalating disasters has become a monstrous, supremacist survivalism. It is terrifying in its wickedness, yes. But it also opens up powerful possibilities for resistance. To bet against the future on this scale – to bank on your bunker – is to betray, on the most basic level, our duties to one another, to the children we love, and to every other life form with whom we share a planetary home.

To me, it's sad that it has even gotten this far. The future itself is honestly a mystery. What will happen next? The only ideology to have is to just sort of survive and find a way to stick through it.

    1. We are two-and-a-half generations removed from the horrors of Nazi Germany, although constant reminders jog the consciousness. German and Italian fascism form the historical models that define this twisted political worldview.

That "Constant reminder" is very eerie due to recent events. Both country examples definitely are the best examples of fascism, and comparing today's events to then. that's when it starts jogging your memory.

    2. For the purpose of this perspective, I will consider the following regimes: Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Franco's Spain, Salazar's Portugal, Papadopoulos's Greece, Pinochet's Chile, and Suharto's Indonesia.

I had known about Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, but I actually didn't know about the other countries named also having Fascist forms of governments at some point in time.

    3. The police were often glorified and had almost unchecked power, leading to rampant abuse.

This is honestly a scary thing to think about. In America, once in a while, there is something that a police officer does that always lead to protest and call for action. but in a time or country where the police can do what ever they want with almost no punishment is worrisome to say the least.

    1. Democrats' support of same-sex marriage has grown 50 percentage points from 33% to 83% since 1996 — the most among political party groups.

An increase of same sex marriage support by the democrats increasing over the past couple of decades would actually be considered a good thing. But it's interesting how democrats showed the most support out of all the political parties.
