    1. Black

I was also looking forward to this race poll because earlier in the article, it mentioned that Kamala was black, so I thought many people of the same race might have favorable opinions of her.

    2. Party

This particular demographic stood out to me because I was curious about what parties thought she was favorable and unfavorable. Usually, one can tell who a voter supports just by knowing what parties they support/ belong to.

    3. Favorable, unfavorable and don’t know/no opinion

They also don't specify the sample size here, so it can be hard to tell if this is a good representation of the population they are trying to study with these polls.

    4. The vice president’s favorability among voters varies greatly depending on their politics and demographics, according to data gathered as part of the most recent YouGov poll. The largest difference is partisan, with opinions split down party lines. Generally, Harris does better with women, African American voters and college graduates.

This section was interesting to me as it involved certain things we discussed in class, such as the demographics of the sample; age, gender, race etc.

    5. After taking on that role, Harris’ approval ratings began to decline, with unfavorable opinions

I think that this statement could be an example of an anecdote fallacy whereby the conclusion being made is based on a single piece of evidence; in this case, being that the reason for her becoming unfavorable towards Americans is because she had been assigned this particular role that involves immigration. However, the writer goes on to mention that the decline may not be linked to the immigration situation.

    6. As of Nov. 15, 40% of registered voters had a favorable opinion of Harris and 54% had an unfavorable opinion

They do not specify the total number of registered voters, and so it can be hard to tell if it is a significant representation of "America/ Americans" because the headline does say: "What does America think of Kamala Harris?"

    1. keep-your-head-down

This is a metaphor that entails avoiding some sort of trouble/ controversy.

Another metaphor was in the headline, 'kicking everybody's ass'. This entails being successful or even outstandingly successful amongst others.

    1. Harry Styles Helped Register Tens of Thousands of Fans to Vote Ahead of the 2022 Midterm Elections

This is news because it values prominence and impact. It is prominent because the singer involved, Harry Styles, is a famous singer and actor, and it is impactful because it has a great effect on the citizens involvement in the country's democratic process of choosing its leaders. It also values timeliness.
