    1. Version 1 was incorrectly uploaded as a Word document and is therefore not being displayed. Version 2 (pdf) is identical to version 1. In version 3, a minor amendment in the conclusion section has been done and the publication in the American Journal of Neurology Resarch has now been cited.

    1. Version 14 is identical to version 12 except for the correction of a few typing errors and minor additions. This preprint has been published (open access) in the Journal of Psychiatry and Psychiatric Disorders 2022; 6 (3): 196-202 In the course of preparation of the consecutive versions of this preprint, discussions of the „Theory of Source Monitoring“ (Kunzendorf 2022) and of self-consciousness in artificial intelligence (Cunha 2019; Blum & Blum 2021) have been added. In version 12, brief consideration has been given to the theory introduced by Newen (2018). Some reviewer’s objections, although not substantially relevant to the paper’s subject, have now been addressed in order not to completely ignore them (see 1st paragraph „comparator models“). However, the basic message remained unaltered throughout the process of preparation. This preprint may be subject to further additions when considered meaningful.
