    1. "You are in a dr awing-room,'' says Stanislavsky to his audience, "witnessing life." "You are in a theatre,'' says Brecht, "witnessing actors."

It's so interesting that there are so many different techniques to reach on goal: acting. However much like Loamshire said the impact of that acting will vary. At first I didn't understand why he defined these techniques as a conflict, but after some thought I began to understand. It draws back to Loamshires point about exposing ourselves to more foreign elements of art. The english knew everything about Stan, but nothing about Brecht who was just as important.

    2. I happen to agree with Mr. Hunt; you may not; but, as Englishmen, we are both arguing from ignorance.

I love that Loamshire acknowledges this! In todays political and social issues, people are very quick to argue points that they don't understand, because they lack the cultural intelligence.

    3. Never believe that there is a shortage of playwrights; there are more than we have ever known; but they are all writing the same play.

This line really stuck out to me as some on who is an actor! We often times forget that all plays and even films are all the same story, but just presented to us another way. I think especially in this time period a lot of the theater was the same because there was a lack of emphasizing the theater that wasn't just about white people or the British. Loamshire's point about the need for playwrights and actors to explore revivals, foreign plays, and film is important. How can we really be well-rounded creators or even humans if we don't consume perspectives that aren't just our own?

    1. They separate the viewer from the artwork.

I love this about art! Art can either be something that triggers viewers to connect or disconnect. I think that is why I personally define art as anything that makes you feel something.

    2. In 1984, he founded the National Rainbow Coalition, which promoted gay rights, in addition to gender and racial equity.

I did not know this!!! Black people and activist have always been very involved in the LGBTQ+ community and it is often not acknowledged.

    3. hat journalists had offered a racist and narrow portrait of Jackson as a “one-dimensional preacher with a mouth.”

I feel black activists are often portrayed in this light. They are portrayed in a way that doesn't speak towards their activism. People don't understand the complexities of what it's like to be black AND an activist and I feel like that is often why they are disrespected.

    4. portrayed Jesse Jackson—an African-American preacher and two-time presidential candidate—as a Caucasian man with white skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes.

I think the fact that Jesse Jackson was used in this painting adds more to the meaning. By having a Black man that holds such significance in the black community be portrayed as a white man adds a much more complex idea. It adds to that idea of "white washing".

    5. exposed just how much racism still pervades our electoral system.

This is an interesting point, but is not surprising. Racism has been weaved into every aspect of American Culture. Anything that is involved with America will have the residue of racism.
