Saginaw Bay and its fisheries have undergone dramatic changes since the 1830's, and especially since the 1940's. The quality of the water in the Saginaw River system and the inner bay was steadily degraded by a wide variety of domestic and industrial pollutants.
It is awful to think about the negative impacts that this has on all ecosystems, and scary to wrap your head around the fact that it has been happening for so long.
