Coherent water has a low ionization threshold, and is thus able to generate a tension close to –100mV when associated with incoherent water. Membrane potentials could then arise from water and not necessarily from ions.
Ok, this is a seriously cool idea. But is this just that, an idea, or is there yet experimental proof?
