    1. granting permission to leave the classroom for an errand

I'll admit that I didn't expect this to be one of the many things considered routine, however thinking on it yeah it's very common for students to leave the classroom for whatever reason, so it would make sense to consider as part of the school day that should be planned around.

    2. As a new teacher, it is typically easier to start with a predetermined set of expectations and involve students in the “unpacking” of the norms when discussing why they are necessary.

I can see why as a new teacher I would prefer to have some predetermined things ready for me to use. Like having guidelines to help not only myself but the students as well.

    3. Classroom rules, also referred to as norms, express standards of behavior for which individual students need to take responsibility.

I like how rules can also be referred to as norms. I suppose it's because how these norms are in fact things that people would be expected to do, such as politeness. However they are still things that need to be discussed with students in order to establish an environment suited for learning.

    1. (VPNs) One way of ensuring privacy and the security of your data when browsing using a public Wi-Fi network is to use a VPN, or a virtual private network. VPNs create an encrypted tunnel through which you can access information online, away from “prying eyes.” This protects your privacy and ensures security.

I know that this is a textbook essentially and that I should probably trust what it says, I do want to note that I'm not too sure about how good VPNs actually are. For every time I have seen a source advertise VPNs I have also seen people who make careers out of technology say that VPNs are really only good for accessing geolocked content. Like say if Netflix had your favorite show in their European version but not the US. From what I know, so long as a website has a lock in URL and you aren't already hacked you should be fine. It is safer to not use sensitive information over open wifi but you also won't be hacked immediately as most of the VPN ads will say you are. I could be wrong of course, I am not an expert in this.

    2. Does a camera app really need access to your microphone?

I understand what the text was trying to say, however if the person plans on taking videos then yes it is likely the camera app would need access to your microphone. I think there were better examples to be made.

    3. sexist, racist, anti-LGBTQ+, or prejudiced or offensive in other ways; posting about, participating in, or encouraging criminal activity; and posting bullying or harassing comments.

I think one of the worst things about this is that as the text points out you may have been doing on this your own time and only thought your close circles would have seen it. If so it could be the case that they would know if you legitimately meant it or if you were joking, which is hard to tell based on text alone. So you could have been trying to make a joke among friends but since it's on the internet for everyone to see you can potentially ruin your career.

    4. spam, phishing, malware, and hacking, as well as looking at the tracking capabilities of different apps and websites.

I think it's really good that people are being taught about this in schools and not just having to either learn the hard way or hope their friends/family would inform them. I especially think it's great that they will cover how you are tracked on apps and websites.
