This quotation hints that importance of a sense of patriotism and fulfilling his responsibilities towards others. This importance of patriotism is proven by the fact that this is one of the objectives that the legislative branch is considering in including as an educational goal over many other skills. I believe that the university's board here are trying to incorporate skills they believe that will help a student live in their world. This objective is trying to teach the students that being responsible is an critical quality. Whether it be towards the country or neighbor, the school aims to teach how its students can become responsible and reliable individuals and stay connected to their country. This emphasizes that while the modern US society is highly individualistic, some hints of collectivism existed in the society in the past.

I find this objective to be consistent with the right of freedom of expression. This objective helps citizens become capable of fulfilling this right and express his or her opinion. This also corresponds to the power of writing in a democratic society where this method is a primary way to communicate. This parallels the prominence of writing expressed in the book "Our Declaration". This book similar to this quotation expresses that the our writing have immense influence to persuade and inform which makes this skill a critical one to learn in an education institution.

It is interesting to see that the guidelines declared for the foundation of this university was not focusing on religion considering the time and place of when this document was written. This parallels the Virginia Statue of Religious Freedom where Jefferson advocated the separation of religion and state. I also think that this is the reason why the UVA chapel is not build on the hearts of UVA grounds. Furthermore, I think that the chapel which doesn't hold particular sermons for any particular religion reflects the ideas of this document. It is astonishing to see the lack of religious pursuit in this document considering the concept of God was prevalent in the Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson who is also a signer of this document.

As a pre-med student who volunteers at the UVA hospital, I cannot imagine studying medicine without having a hospital.This makes me believe that it could be possible that the medicine track was easier to study as only one professor was teaching it and there is only so much one professor can teach. Furthermore, i believe that having only one professor teaching this tedious course would not create a thorough education. Nonetheless, medicine in UVA has progressed so much with a leading hospital and competitive medicine program in the present day.
