      In our discussions about monuments and statues pertaining to the Holocaust, we often tend to compare this to the United States. I think this is an interesting point, however, because we seldom think about monuments and statues in other European countries, who have done just as much, if not more, damage to the victims of colonization. So, I think this is important to recognize as well.

      How is Germany's recognition of monuments different from that of the US (and other countries around the world)? Should the term "monument" be limited to statues, or should it encompass other historical entities, such as buildings, etc.?

      Friedrich Schiller's Wallenstein is an epic historical drama which tells the story of Albrecht von Wallenstein, an army general of the Holy Roman Empire, during the Thirty Year's War. Wallenstein is portrayed by Schiller as an arrogant man whose desire for lust and power lead to his ultimate demise.

      I found this sentence interesting because it goes along with what we have talked about in class, particularly involving the discussion about the center and the periphery of this "sphere of knowledge" and that the people who dominate the center are the people who deem what is "valuable" knowledge.
