Learning analytics” is a more focused usage that refers to the harvesting of data specific to what learners understand in the case of so-called “smart systems” and “intelligent tutors.” When that kind of data is integrated into larger patterns of student behavior and institutional pathways, it becomes what some call “academic analytics” or “institutional analytics.”
