author is arguing that rather than free will, the child is being controlled by biology and environment in numerous ways, and each different way is why they make the decision they do. but then what do we say about critical thinking and decision making? its not like if the child's brain is unable to concentrate due to hunger they dont brainstorm other decisions at all. they likely did, and they chose based on free will, no?
