    1. Momposhi was bursting with pride and went around the village telling everyone how proud and how smart his daughter was.

It must have been such a great feeling to be able to say that about his daughter. Linet had done something worthy of praise, and her father didn't waste any time giving her that praise.

    2. This is Faith. Six months of schooling, now she’s a happy sixth grader who dreams of becoming a pilot someday, and her family now supports her, and best of all, her younger sisters will follow in her footsteps.

It's great that Faith was able to pursue her dreams of education, and that her younger siblings will get that same educational opportunity.

    3. I was the first of eight children, and I spent my childhood helping my mother cook, clean, farm and take care of my siblings.

Taking care of 7 younger siblings must've been an incredible task, especially in a country like Kenya where you couldn't just order a pizza if one of the kids gets hungry.

    1. This man, in Kashgar, Xinjiang province, in Western China, is serving up his national dish. It’s called sheep’s organs.

Eating organs may seem strange to Americans, but it would definitely help the food situation. Millions of hearts, livers, kidneys, and other organs are thrown away in America because they aren't "normal" food. The first time i set foot in a grocery store in Europe, it felt like I was in a Ripley's Believe it or Not book. You could buy cow tongues, duck heads, sheep kidneys, cow hearts, and more. Yet in an American grocery store, the most exotic thing I've seen was swordfish.

    2. The one on the right I treated like cut flowers. It’s a living organism, cut the slice off, stuck it in a vase of water, it was all right for another two weeks after this.

This is a good idea for two reasons. One, it saves space in the fridge for things that actually need to be refrigerated, and two, it allows the lettuce to last longer and be edible for much more time than it otherwise would've been.

    3. has anyone seen a supermarket or sandwich shop anywhere in the world that serves sandwiches with crusts on it?

This may be an unpopular opinion, but for me personally, I actually like the crust of certain types of bread better than the bread itself. Toasted sourdough crust with butter is more enjoyable to me than a piece from the middle of the loaf. I'm sure that I'm not the only person who feels this way, and I think that if restaurants gave the option to have crust pieces on a sandwich, a few people might actually like that. A few people ordering something from one restaurant isn't a big deal, but a few people ordering from every single sandwich restaurant in the world, now that's a lot of crust.

    1. So here is the world in 2015. We have a social progress score of 61 and a GDP per capita of $14,000.

There were 1,826 billionaires in 2015, with a combined worth of more than $7 trillion. If we didn't include them in the GDP calculation, the average income per capita would be lower than the reported $14,000.

    2. The highest performing country, Norway, scores 88.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I have been to many Northern European countries, and every time I'm there, I am overwhelmed by just how "good" everything is. Everyone is so nice, food is less expensive than it is in America, and when you look up at night, you can see millions of stars due to the lack of air and light pollution.

    3. But that ain’t easy, because the Global Goals aren’t just ambitious, they’re also pretty complicated. Over 17 goals, there are then 169 targets and literally hundreds of indicators.

A lot of people would look at this and immediately dismiss any possibility of it being achievable because of the quantity of work that needs to be done. That's one of the main problems with the SDGs. There are 17 of them, and most nations can't even get one major issue under control in a reasonable period of time.

    1. be nice to others

It can't get any more simple than this. Just be nice. It's really not that difficult. Avoid conflict, and don't provoke other people into creating conflict. Be a good person. Think before you act, and think before you react.

    2. to incite hatred by denigrating others—even our enemies—is a denial of our common humanity.

This simple concept is something that everyone should understand by the time they're in kindergarten. One of the main reasons that 2020 has gotten out of control is because of people that don't understand this.

    3. treating everybody, without exception, with absolute justice, equity, and respect.

I think this is important especially because of the things happening in our country today.
