    1. whitened noses bridged with heart-shaped shades

when you can relate back to yourself on what you think of spring break and the thought of people outside tanning, you can think to people covering their noses with white sunscreen not to get burnt.

    2. The beach is the hot parade ground where brigades Of suntanned girls disport themselves and thrust Upon one’s notice pelvis, butt, and bust,

when you think of spring break, this is what you think of, everyone showing off and creating an appeal

    1. They have eaten me alive.”

i feel that this final sentence brought the whole poem together. When i see this sentence and how this poem talks about children, i infer that it is a mother who thinks her children have taken the life out of her.

    1. My husband frowned, drank more beer.

It was very interesting to me to see that the husband was frowning at her while she is trying to do something to better the family, so it confused me in the sense that there relationship may not be the best, or he thinks she may be worrying too much that the children are going to forget where they came from

    2. for if I stop trying, I will be deaf when my children need my help.

she is showing how much she is afraid that she will lose everything of her children if she is not able to communicate with them. this quote makes me realize how much she worries that her family will not respect her as much if she is not able to speak english.

    3. Vamos a pedirle dulces a mama. Vamos.

This poem created the tone of sadness and you can feel for the mother feeling bad for herself because she is not able to join in on her children's laughter because she feels she is not good enough
