    1. How many times have you, like Mary, wished to say something very sensible, but knew not how?

I love this because, well all of us have and know what it feels like to want to say something but not know how and man is that not just one of the most frustrating things. It's comments like these that make relating to the characters and seeing things in their prospective so much easier. I also very much agree with the passage that follows, about of course the relatability of the character as I had mentioned.

    2. In the age of fan fiction and remakes and reboots, it is quite appropriate for Mary, in particular, to be joining the ranks of Antoinette Cosway and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and the Wicked Witch of the West and Alexander Hamilton in a public promotion from “supporting character” to “star.”

For the work to be reimagined in fan fiction that is totally reasonable and acceptable, but in a "reboot" or "remake" I believe the story should stay the same as it was from the beginning, it would be much more respectful to the original creator while also still giving plenty of room for creativity, the best way that I have seen reboots done is when they follow a different perspective. While following a different prospective you are able to create an entirely new story while still showing respect for what it is based upon with the tie ins and allusions that you can add.
