    1. The author uses experience as evidence. It is presented in titles such as "My Language Has a Name? to "My Language Has a Name!". Or when she discusses the black women who felt validated at the end of their session when they recalled how a teacher embarrassed them for using their language and how they wished that they had the facts from the presentation.

    2. I think the primary audience is POC, especially black people. It's discussion is on Multilingual Lives so I'm guessing that this is for people who pull away from the standard whether that because of physical or geographic traits

Skimming method is very useful but not something I would depend on if I had to do an analysis. I think go get gist it can be great but don't see any others benefits of it. I think with the active reading it was consuming it a bit more if that makes sense but it takes a lot more time. In the past I've used skimming when i was low on time and it didn't really retain the information because I was already stressed out about getting things done on time. The impact could be good for getting information on situations quicker.

    2. A number of the women she interviewed reported something similar: their obsession with hair began at home when mothers and grandmothers looked at textured hair as something to be fixed instead of celebrated

    5. Black women have a long history of molding their beauty regimen to fit the eurocentric status quo, from straightening their hair and using lightening creams to settling for pale and pink cosmetics when the beauty industry fails to provide products for darker skin tones.

We see that black women set to fit the eurocentric status quo and some of the things it entails.

    1. why the writer or speaker communicating.

I think at times there can be more than one purpose in communication. For example, news stations are know to be informative but they do fall into those persuade, analyze, theorize and entertain components too. Adding on to what Sofia said, I think it can be beneficial to show other perspectives especially with topics that are less technical their tends to be a lot of bias. I think it's just important to distinguish the different types of communication or media which may be tricky.
