    1. It’s almost like roberta and Twyla are haunted by the memory of Maggie’s torture indured buy her silence. That before they through Maggie’s silence would kill her but it soon be want haunts them. Almost like the guilt of wanting to kick her, never speaking up for her and teasing her themselves is what keeps them coming back to one another. Know they feel trapped as maggie possibly did.

    2. In a coffe shop coming from getting a Christmas tree Twyla runs into roberta at a coffee shop Roberta emits that neither of them ever kicked maggie but that she did think maggie was black Roberta can’t remember what really happened to maggie either only that she was old and that when she did she the bigger girls beatting her up she wanted to join And that feeling of wanting to join the kicking her stuck so much with her it grew into a fictional memory

    3. When twyla thinks of the past she knew and is certain robeta knows she didnt kick maggie but wanted to and thought of maggie as her mother so when she saw the girls beating her up she thought good, thats what she deserved because twyla had her own angers and issues. Twyla reflected her pain and anger from her ,mother onto and into others.

    4. Twyla sees roberta one day protesting with others outside of a school that was soon to be integrated and roberta argued that it wasn’t fai that her kids would have to go to a further school but twyla said it wasn’t a big deal then they low key get into a heated dispute about maggie( the mute woman)being black and twyla kicking at her. But twyla says Maggie wasn’t black ,then they see the differences of eachother being black and white

    5. A couple of days after the dispute twyla goes back with signs that are clear messages directed towards roberta…a lot of Twyla’s sighs didnt make sense withiout Roberta’s.and twyla was eventually taken as kook After Twyla’s last sign said “hows your mother?” A Message directed to roberta, roberta stopped showing Twyla kept trying to get the attention of roberta at the protest but seemed to fail until that sign

    6. When Twyla and roberta where catching up ,come to find out Twyla has supressed some memories about what happened and the foster home. Roberta ended up going back to the home 2 more times after she and Twyla left. This time roberta seems to be doing better and tells Twyla to keep in touch but Twyla wont now after discovering the truth behind a memory.

    7. Twyla asked why roberta was so stand of fish the last time they seened eachother and roberta said it was a black and white thing becaus of the times but twyla thinks differently.

    8. As times are changing and modernizing a new supermarket was build and Twyla again ran into roberta who was unrecognizable compared to the time in the restaurant. Before she looked like she might have been on drugs suggested by Twyla but now was dressed to kill and rich through marriage.

    9. Setting-Newburgh

Twyla has a husband and a son she likes her husbands family and he likes her cooking.she describes him as fitting as slipper. Meaning they must get along very well.

    10. Yearrrrrs pass and Twyla is not working in a run down restaurant as a waitress doing the night shift when one day she sees roberta, who now where’s makeup and smokes cigarettes like the big girls.they had a short convo that was dismissed after asking about each other’s mothers.

    11. When the mothers came to visit Twyla’s mom Mary wore an outfit that Twyla cant stand and didnt bring lunch for them … Twyla doesn’t call her mother mom and often says how she wants to kill her for the things she does sometimes…Twyla described her mother almost like a child especially when waiting to see Twyla she looked excited in a way that she was going to see her mother and not Twyla…. Makes me think is there a backwards relationship between Twyla and her mother…does Twyla take on the responsibility’s of a mother and not a daughter?

    12. Roberta mom was a big woman who read the Bible and didnt shake Mary’s hand when she met her and very rudely just walked away sliding Roberta with her. Roberta left not to long after and Twyla little by little forgot how she looked.

    13. Twyla and Roberta bonded over the idea that their moms where finally vistiting and that if they met would like one another.

I think their mothers are visiting in April (easter) considering they had baskets and jelly beans and marshmallow eggs.

    14. Twyla says her and Roberta didnt like eachother much( i think that was one sided ,towards Roberta) but grew to like one another since they shared a room that usually had 4 people but was just them. They bonded over taking each other’s food and running away from the big girls.Within 28 days.

    15. Twyla mom was neglectful and didnt prep full meals…Twyla says the home isn’t that bad besides the bigger girls who sometimes push them around. There’s a mute woman who also happens to be bow legged that works there.

    16. Twyla says how her mother wouldn’t like that her and roberta where roommates. Contextually Twyla mentioned she was in a room with a stranger from a whole other race.and later says how kids teased them and called them salt and pepper. Thus leaving me to think that roberta is black and Twyla is white and that Twyla’s mom may be a possible racist considering she said that “they never wash their hair and they smell funny”

    1. “The fiction of knowledge is related to this lust to be a viewpoint and nothing more”….. said after describing what its like to be above the city from a tall building and looking down.

    2. The way that painters and architects depicted the city before is what we glamorize “lives in our achievements” thus only making it harder for now architectures to depict the city because we have already associated it with a certain image. That’s why we have to “materialize todays utopia that was only painted yesterday”

    3. It’s almost like he’s saying compared to Rome and old renaissance painters who captured a view point from which no one had ever seen ,making it grander , New York’s view points from tall building onto city’s isn’t all that its made to be because everyone can look from that view point (down onto other) and that this belief that you are higher then others is just another sale. Or just another lie to make you feel good about yourself. “ ITSD HARD TO BE DOWN WHEN YOUR UP” said a poster in a building

    4. Second paragraph- Michel thinks of the city life( New York) as always inventing itself constantly creating something new and then throwing it away in order to challenge the future compared to places like rome
