Angelina Grimke appealed to the women by speaking to them as Christians. If are truly a Christian then you let your voice be heard, because you make a difference and your opinion matters. Angelina refreshed their memory with this quote written by our forefathers-“this self evident truth that all men are created equal, and that they have certain inalienable rights among which are, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” She letting them know that this statement applies to all men and women of all colors and enslaving others is wrong. Please, as women, lets stand up and do what God would want us to do as Christians and that is abolish slavery.

The enslavers only preached to the enslaved the that they were descendants of Ham and are being punished and that is why you are subservient. The enslavers kept the enslaved illiterate and did not want them to read inspirational bible passages including how Moses lead his people out of slavery (did not want to give them ideas). Let us not forget that the Old Testament had a lot of violence and war against people coming against God's people. I don't condone what Nat Turner and the others did, but in my opinion, Nat was acting as God's servant and attempted to deliver his people from bondage.

He is letting them know how God is the head of everything just in case you did not know. You have what you have because of God including your health and wealth. You didn't get this on your own. This is His grace on you. God is keeping you and carrying you and what you have because of God. Then he tells them that these earthly things are nothing. God gives and God takes away. You are in God's hands. He is holding your life in His hands, if He lets you go, you are going to fall and the air cannot protect you from falling. Only God.
