The findings of invasion in kīpukas are compelling and have implications for land managers, but I think it should be noted what the grazing intensity and utilization are of the "disturbed" sites. A cursory look at the BLM Rangeland Administration System shows that the allotments surrounding Craters of the Moon may have a relatively low stocking rate compared to other areas of the state. Full analysis of allotments of varying grazing intensity compared to undisturbed areas would likely be beyond the scope of this research, but given past research finding annual grass cover's response to different grazing intensities, the context of how heavily utilized the chosen disturbed sites were seems important.
