Angelina Grimke was the definition of God fearing woman. She knew right from wrong and that this was not the way to treat African Americans. I am still in disbelief on how abolitionist thought processes were. The nerve to think that African Americans should be born into slavery and to have children separated from their mothers and fathers and husbands separated from their wives all to enslave them and make them do as they please. God loves all and this was not the way of life. I am so thankful we had women like Angelina to help defend our rights and fight for equality for African Americans. What's sad is that we still have racism and people with the same thought process today. It doesn't make it any better that we have a leader in office who encourages it. We came a long way, but we are still in the fight and will continue to do so.

Nat Turner' confession was what he believed to be a sign from God to lead the slaves in a rebellion against white slave owners as they made life terrible for them back in these times. He truly believe that the spirit of God spoke to him and that this was something that he needed to do in order to be born again. I honestly believe that God did speak to him. Nat Turner was a hero in my eyes. He gave back everything to white slave owners that they deserved for mistreating black slaves. Blacks were treated so unfairly and what's sad is that we are still being treated unfairly. Back then we were lynched such as hanging us from trees, but today they shoot us first, ask questions later, and get let off by grand jury's. This is known as Modern Day Lynching. We are still fighting for our freedom and will continue to do so by any means necessary.

Reading this sermon really put an image in my head of how the congregation probably looked at the time he was preaching it. I honestly would have left and went home and prayed about it because I would have been so frightened that I was one of the ones going to hell. It's like he was scolding a child. Honestly I would have never returned back to this church. We all are sinners but the good thing about that is we have a forgiving God. He forgave us for all of our sins and for that I am merciful to his name.
