    1. The only metaphor that seems really appropriate is the bizarre dark matter world.

      Another metaphor I think of is the ecosystems in a forest. There are so many differently-sized ecosystems that could be adjacent, but completely unaware of each other. I'm thinking of insects, or the difference between the forest floor and higher in the treetops.

    1. Answer: if 1% of the population controls most of the disposable wealth, what we call ‘the market’ reflects what they think is useful or important, not anybody else.
