When applying the Rights lens, I cannot ignore that Amodei is not addressing the environmental dangers, or the crisis it's creation imposes on the average person. Amodei is pushing to form standard safety regulations and create global collaborations for "safer" AI. Yes, these actions proposed are solid and it is a new perspective to hear from a CEO of an AI company; but this perspective is not considering the rights of everyone affected. He is not addressing the incidents where millions of gallons of water have been mistakenly used and wasted, or the thousands of people without power or water for weeks due to the power-grid being overrun. These are some of the real issues the average person has, or will, come across if AI continues to grow at the pace it is. His lens makes sense as a CEO and former lead at two major tech companies; he is focused on the "technical" sides of things. Though, to say he is proposing these ideas for the better of "humanity" is hard to believe when he is mainly discussing future, possible issues instead of the current ones.
